Ben of Hodinkee visited the AP restoration department, a place where they take care of complicated and complex time pieces. Ben summed it all up in his blog post and ends it with a great video that you really have to check out. The only thing that bothers me though, is the following message on Hodinkee: “We are told that 80% of the jobs they receive come from other watchmakers who have tried to service a watch but simply can not, or have tried and actually damaged the mechanism in the process.”

So people, please make sure to really trust your watch maker or repair service and make sure they are up to the job. If not, you now know what to do.
