I think that guy was somewhat tongue in cheek, but he sure pushed the right buttons. Heresy. Those guys feel that anyone not wearing a mechanical is an ignorant boob (some of their periodic snipes at political or other figures bear this out--do they vote by candidates watch choice? and they think this guy is whacked?)

I love vintage mechanicals precisely because they are vintage, and have a human,historical context. But their value is that context. Making a new mechanical in today's world is a futile effort to recapture the past.

But come on fellas. Timekeeping with springs and wheels is quaint history, but it's history.
