As an unofficial Friend of the Brand, we try to keep in close touch with Linde Werdelin. A brand that we’ve covered many times here, including interviews with the founders of LW. During our encounter in BaselWorld, Jorn Werdelin and his team presented to us a new SpidoSpeed chronograph. In 18ct gold.

SpidoSpeed Gold

We did an in-depth review of the Linde Werdelin SpidoSpeed Chronograph earlier this year (click here), which has more or less the same technical specifications as the 18 karat gold SpidoSpeed. However, the weight and look are entirely different making this a watch a luxury sports watch instead of a ‘raw’ sports watch like the DLC, Anthracite DLC, stainless steel and titanium/gold versions of this watch. We bet that there only will be a few happy customers that are actually going to use this heavy weight champion as a true sports watch.

According to Morten Linde, one of the founders of the LW brand, this new gold SpidoSpeed Chronograph is breaking some ground rules: “a gold case developed in this particular structure and design is one of a kind in the watch industry; a cool and masculine look that breaks up the traditional use of gold for classic designed cases.”

The spider web dial (not to confuse with a certain neo-vintage Rolex dial) on this LW watch has a few gold elements as well. The case is entirely made out of 18 karat rose gold, exists out of 32 parts and has been microbillé and hand satin finished. This gives the watch case that handsome matte finish look.

SpidoSpeed Gold

Just like the other SpidoSpeed models, there will be a limited production of this A-series of only 100 pieces. Although the price tag of 34.200 Euro (including VAT) will limit the number of customers, 100 pieces sound like a reasonable amount to us.

Linde Werdelin restyled their official website and included extra photos of their watches and there’s also this animation on-line of the SpidoSpeed Gold (click here). The watch comes on an alligator strap (we’d pick the brown one) and a gold buckle.
