Porsche Design starts off with new timepieces series

Stuttgart, Germany. It has been more than four decades since Porsche Design revolutionized the premium watch industry for the first time by launching the world first matte black Chronograph I. Today, the renowned forge of innovation presents a brand new collection – “Chronotimer Collection” – reflecting the new direction of the luxury and lifestyle brand. By launching the “Chronotimer Collection“, Porsche Design celebrates the brand’s natural passion for racing: Looking at the specific needs of racing drivers, Porsche Design founder Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche relied on matte black surfaces and titanium at an early stage. These strengths have not lost any significance since then, and thus feature the new collection. The series will be launched worldwide in July 2015.

Fabulous characteristics

The “Chronotimer Collection” embodies sportiness, speed and performance. The design of the timepieces is inspired by the non-reflective instruments of a cockpit which are entirely matte black except of the white numerals and hands. The combination with a double-sided, 7-layer coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal minimizes reflections for optimal performance and ensures a perfect readability of the time.

Eleven individual model versions

The model versions of the “Chronotimer Collection” feature a captivating titanium case. The timepieces offer a variety of surface-finishes and material choices for the strap: High-quality leather, high-tech fabric, titanium and rubber add a personal touch to the individual references. With regard to the bezel, there is also a focus on individuality and craftsmanship: Bezels in the “Chronotimer Collection” are available in matt black coated titanium, titanium or 18-carat rose gold. The color of the dials in matt black, carbon, deep blue or white gives each individual timepiece a striking appearance.

New Generation

For the first time the Porsche Design “Chronotimer Collection” was developed by Porsche Design Timepieces AG, based in Solothurn (Switzerland) in cooperation with the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See (Austria), and was also manufactured in Switzerland. The characteristics of the timepieces are timeless and modern: The diameter of the case is 42 millimeters. The watch is powered by the mechanical ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement with a power reserve of 48 hours and a date display at the “3”. The black-tinted sapphire crystal case back shows the inner workings of the exclusive, energy-optimized Porsche Design rotor. The “Chronotimer Collection” is water-resistant to 5 bar.
