SARO-Gem Carat AQ Jubil?ɬ
This article is about SARO-Gem. As a watch enthusiast, you might have never heard of them before. No hard feelings, because SARO-Gem is a manufacturer of sapphire jewelery watches in the first place and that might not be something you were looking in to before as a watch enthusiast. Sapphire is known for being scratch resistant, only diamond is hard enough to do so.
Over 100 years, the family that runs SARO-Gem, has been involved in creating watches. The last 25 years, the von Burg family focusses on sapphire watches by the name of SARO-Gem. You won?ǨѢt find SARO-Gem watches at your local watch dealer or jeweler. They only sell directly through one of their consumer shows in the United States and Switzerland. You can also visit the SARO-Gem showroom in Switzerland by making an appointment.

SARO-Gem decided to cover up their watches entirely by this material, making it scratch resistant and jewelery at the same time. The SARO-Gem Carat Auto-Quartz watch that I reviewed, has this awesome glare of green/purple when you turn it, even when there is not much light around. The sapphire crystals on the watchcase (35mm x 33 mm x 9.3mm) and the sapphire tiles on the bracelet create a futuristic looking watch that could indeed be considered as jewelery as well.

The dial has 0.1ct diamonds (white) as hour markers, which is not my personal favorite for a men?ǨѢs watch, but I can imagine that there are guys who like this. There are multiple options for customizing your dial and watchcase by SARO-Gem. The hands and printed wording on the dial is in gold, so is the date window (nice detail!). The gold dust on the dial also really gives a great shine in the light.
The movement ticking inside is an auto-quartz movement by ETA (ref.205.911), with a powerreserve of 100 days. As you can see below, the movement winds like a normal automatic mechanical movement. However, the rotor in the end charges a battery instead of a spring. The quartz motor inside the watch makes sure the accuracy of the watch is dead-on.

Admitted, the watch is very outspoken and not everybody is probably ready for jewelery on his wrist. However, if you are, you got yourself quite a unique time piece. Furthermore, the SARO-Gem gives you a full 10 year warranty on the watch and all its components. This includes the warranty on the color integrity of the gemstones used.
