Introduction Gronefeld One Hertz Techniek Nocturne – Live Pictures

It is with great pride that we introduce the latest and last version of the Dutch made Grönefeld One Hertz. We’ve been a fan of the Grönefeld One Hertz since the day it was introduced to us in stainless steel, red gold and since last year, also in titanium (Fire and Ice editions) and platinum. And now, here it is, the latest and last edition of the Grönefeld One Hertz family: Techniek and Techniek Nocturne. All pictures can be clicked-on for high resolution images.

The Grönefeld One Hertz Techniek has – of course – the same complication as the other One Hertz editions, which is a ‘seconde morte’ or dead beat complication. The Techniek comes in two different flavors, a titanium version and a titanium version with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) treatment, the Nocturne. The Nocturne is the version we got our hands-on just before release date (17th of January 2013).

In the past, we’ve written an article about its inner workings (movement caliber G-02) and a Grönefeld One Hertz hands-on review. Bart and Tim Grönefeld were so kind to us to lend us one of their new pieces in order to have a closer look and to be able to photograph it properly.

During our precious time with this open-worked dial titanium DLC version of the Grönefeld One Hertz Techniek, we were able to do some macro work on the caliber G-02 movement. The finish on this timepiece is of an incredible high level. Hand finished and executed with the utmost care and precision.

The Grönefeld One Hertz Techniek Nocturne is incredibly light-weight on the wrist, very comfortable. Although it is very unlikely that Grönefeld will ever produce a sports watch, the DLC edition does give the watch a more casual look than the other editions of the One Hertz do. Even the Fire and Ice editions are more classic looking timepieces. So, if you are looking for a stealth timepiece from an independent watchmaker that does have a neat complication and a lot of craftsmanship, the One Hertz Techniek Nocturne might be the right watch for you.

BaselWorld 2012 – Gronefeld One Hertz Live Photos

Just a few days after we showed you the new Gronefeld One Hertz in platinum and the new titanium versions (Fire and Ice), we are showing you a few live pictures we took during our visit to them in BaselWorld 2012.

Probably the most down-to-earth watch makers we’ve ever met, Tim and Bart Gronefeld have done a superb job on the new variations of their One Hertz (secondes mortes) timepiece. We especially love the Fire model, with the orange accents on the dial and orange stitching in the strap. Technically speaking, nothing changed, but they just decided to create different versions of their much appraised One Hertz to satisfy the demand of their customers.

Under the bad lightning circumstances we are experiencing in most BaselWorld exhibitor’s booths, we were still able to get some live photos of all their new One Hertz variations. The polished titanium cases are a bit darker than the stainless steel model they introduced last year, but definitely not the matt grey color you’ve seen on titanium sports watches.

Sadly, we had only limited time to get them in front of the lens, as the BaselWorld booth of the Gronefeld brothers was fully booked with visitors since their appearance on TV and radio after they received the TimeZone’s 2011 Watch of the Year award.

Strangely enough, the prices of the Gronefeld One Hertz models didn’t surprise us. The titanium Fire and Ice models retail for just under 40K Euro and the platinum version retails for 79K Euro. Seems like a lot of money [it actually is] but compared to timepieces with this type of complication of other haute horlogerie brands, it is not that astonishing.

Gronefeld One Hertz Just Went Platinum

After winning the prestigious TimeZone’s 2011 Watch of the Year award and their appearance on national television in The Netherlands (click here to view the item), Gronefeld Exclusive Timepieces introduces their One Hertz in Platinum.

Gronefeld One Hertz Just Went Platinum

Gronefeld received a lot of coverage here with their One Hertz ‘secondes mortes’  timepiece over the last year. Not only because the watch is just plain beautiful, also because we believe we are going to hear a lot more from brothers Tim and Bart Gronefeld from Oldenzaal, The Netherlands. This small independent watch manufacturer is the cream of the crop and now TimeZone also acknowledges this, it can go pretty fast with these guys.

We have done an in-depth article on the secondes mortes One Hertz timepiece in the past (click here) and a superb photo review by our own Ming Thein as well (click here). This coming BaselWorld, we will get you additional coverage on the new platinum One Hertz from Gronefeld. The new Gronefeld One Hertz timepieces come in several flavors with regards to the dial and hands, being the ‘Ice’ and ‘Fire’ Titanium versions. They don’t have to fool us of course, the Fire version is just showing the proud Dutch orange color! The titanium versions are restricted to 30 pieces only.
