MeisterSinger is pretty well-known among watch aficionados, so there is no need for an introduction on this German brand. However, last week MeisteSinger unveiled their Circularis collection that does need an introduction. The MeisterSinger Circularis is an entirely new collection – consisting of three watches – that carry a bespoke movement, caliber MSH01.

It is not an in-house movement nor does MeisterSinger claims it to be one, but it has been developed in very close coöperation with a Swiss partner. This uniquely designed hand-wound movement has a power reserve of 5 days and can act as the base caliber for MeisterSinger watches in the future. Can be, we write, as nothing is certain and there are no concrete plans to develop a MeisterSinger watch that will use this base movement for specific complications or functions. However, MeisterSinger wants to be ready for the future, as the possibility of using third party movements (from large suppliers) is never certain.

MeisterSinger Circularis

MeisterSinger CircularisThe MeisterSinger Circularis is a new family of watches for this Münster based company. The twin in-series mainspring barrels will make sure that the power delivery to the movement will deliver a higher degree of precision than a single spring movement.

Looking at the back side of the watch, it will immediately become clear that the movement has been designed with specific input from MeisterSinger. The bridge design is beautifully done and fit the total design of the MeisterSinger Circularis timepiece. There has been put a lot of detail in the design and finish of the movement, such as the rhodium-plated bridge with beautiful finish, mirror-polished bevels, blued screws and engraving in gold.

MeisterSinger CircularisThe One-Hand Show

We couldn’t come up with a subtitle more cheesy, but the MeisterSinger Circularis is basically a new generation of the original one-hand watch, the “No.01” model.

Looking at the watch, you will notice that it isn’t possible to read time in a very accurate way. The philosophy that quality (time) is more important than time, is perhaps somewhat difficult to explain but if you are enjoying yourself with an espresso, a good book, music or whatever, time should not be that important. Looking at your watch to see ‘about’ what time it is, ought to be enough. It might not be the watch for people that like to be in time for a train or bus just a few seconds before departure, but on the other hand, you will probably have an iPhone or whatever smart phone in your pocket to help you with that.

MeisterSinger CircularisThe MeisterSinger Circularis will be available in three dial versions, as showed in this article. A sunburst sapphire-blue dial, a sunburst silver-white dial and an ivory dial. The latter one is our personal favourite! Delivery to MeisterSinger dealers is expected mid-October and the list price of the MeisterSinger Circularis will be € 3998,= including 21% VAT.

We think it is important to stress that the price range of € 1000 – € 2500 Euro will be maintained by MeisterSinger as their key-focus.

Specifications of the MeisterSinger Circularis are:

  • Stainless steel 43mm case
  • Domed sapphire crystal on the front, sapphire crystal on the back
  • Three different dial versions
  • Water-resistant up to 5 ATM / 50 meters
  • Strap of genuine alligator leather, folding clasp
  • Hand-wound caliber MSH01 movement
