Omega Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition

The first lucky fan on earth

Matt Henaughan was the first lucky fan on earth to receive his watch at one of the London Omega Boutiques. Omega reported about this happening of course through Instagram, which has played such a key role in the whole process. You’ll find that post, dated July 23rd, here. It got almost 14.500 likes at the time of writing.

First of Fratello Watches team

It got even more difficult for me when I learned that our own Robert-Jan Broer received his watch as well, being the first of the Fratello Watches team. Robert-Jan reported on his delivery here, and Omega here. Although I know it wasn’t his fault as the delivery of the serial numbers is absolutely random. All what’s left for the rest of us is waiting somewhat longer.

However.. There’s something else left. We still have the number 0/2012 prototype in our possession for promotional purposes! I know of course that we have to return this watch to Omega, but this is the time for me to grab the opportunity and use it for just that.

The polished old-style Omega logo on the brushed crown

Details I like so much

I’ve seen and handled the watch on many occasions, during presentations and events. We’ve been in close contact with Omega when the watch was designed. So I know exactly which details I like so much about the watch. The radial dial, the old-style applied Omega logo in the dial. The polished old-style Omega logo on the brushed crown. The completely brushed casing. The many luminous details in the dial. The straps, the packaging, and, and, and…

Wearing it is a totally different experience. There are so many situations in which a watch on your wrist looks or feels so different. Each and every one presenting an other emotion. This can’t be felt by seeing it on pictures, nor by taking it in your hand and looking at it. Daily wearing it is a whole different story.

What’s left to wait for

You might have noticed I’ve fitted one of my own leather straps to the watch. Still I feel very well that this is not my watch. This watch belongs to Omega and isn’t mine. And that is an emotion which I’m sure adds much to the watch once wearing my own. That’s why my waiting is still tough. Bearable while wearing the prototype, but tough.

Knowing that all of you, out there reading this while waiting for your own Omega Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition, have an even more difficult time than I have. I’d like to wish you good courage in this difficult period. It can’t take that long any more now, can it..? 😉
