As we wrote before today, it is the retro-game in full effect here in Basel. Today, we saw the new Oris Chronoris Date. Before we will come back to you with a hands-on article of the actual watch, we will introduce you to this sporty timepiece from 1970.

As you might know, Michael Stockton is a huge fan of anything vintage and was looking forward to see the release of this Oris Chronoris Date. This 39mm is relatively small, but wears very comfortably on any size wrist because of the case shape. Two large crowns can be used to set the time (of course) and to set the inner rotating bezel. This bezel can be used to time seconds, minutes or hours.

Oris Chronoris Date

The Oris Chronoris Date has a couple of strap options. You can either select a leather, rubber or grey NATO strap. There is also the option of buying it on a stainless steel bracelet. A very nice comfortable bracelet with no less than 15 links across.

At a retail price of 1600 Swiss Francs (for the Oris Chronoris Date on a leather strap) this is a very interesting proposition for those who love the look of vintage watches, but don’t dare (or can’t find) an original one. You will get a modern watch, with a modern self-winding caliber 733 (Sellita SW200-1), nice slender case, 100 meters water resistance and two domed sapphire crystals. The dial and hands are applied with Super-LumiNova. The version on the 15-links bracelet will retail for 1800 Swiss Francs.

We can’t wait to get our hands on this one to do a proper review of this retro piece.
