In accord with the extraordinary history and high level of watch making of Urban Jϋrgensen, we are pleased to present our new 1142 Grenage dial references in Rose Gold and Platinum. At first glance, the 1142 Grenage dial exhibits a simplicity that conceals the complexity of its creation. The construction methods and craftsmanship used appeal especially to connoisseurs of fine watchmaking. While some design elements and finishing are clear to see, others are virtually hidden from view. This new model compliments the Jurgensen 1745 collection with a blend of our most precious examples of watch making art – , the Urban Jurgensen Hands, Grenage dial, tear drop lugs and the in-house P4 movement.

The 42mm classical case design used in this reference, has a round form, teardrop shaped lugs and stepped bezel combined with exquisitely finished dial and hands.

Urban Jürgensen hands, are very much hand-made. They comprise a significant number of components that are individually honed, assembled and finished. This naturally implies numerous hours of highly skilled workmanship and are a key feature of Urban Jürgensen timepieces. The steel arms of Urban Jürgensen hands are cut from selected steel and manually finished to ensure a perfect shape and fit.

At Urban Jürgensen we have a long history of exquisite dial making in single piece fine silver, the process of handmade grenage  invented during the 1800’s is challenging and in today’s form starts as follows: First a final cut solid fine silver dial is engraved with the selected indexes, numerals, and texts. The ultra-shallow engravings are hand filled with a lacquer, and the surplus hardened material then polished off by use of increasingly fine diamond paper. The dial grenage layer is then built by manually treating and brushing a secret mix of silver powder, salt, and other ingredients onto the blank silver dial surface. By electrochemical bonding process, the dial face builds up a frosted pearled and unique silvered surface with incredible depth and granularity. The dial surface is achieved by a process that is handmade. This means every dial is unique, and every watch will, therefore, have its own personality and character.
