Being an Omega fan, I peek a few times per week at the various Omega forums on the internet. On the TimeZone Omega forum, I noticed that one of their members – by the name of Kibi – posted a few excellent photographs of an Omega Speedmaster Day-Date ref.3523.80. A perfect Speedy for everyday use, since it has a date feature and has a mechanical automatic movement as opposed to the handwound Moonwatch with no date feature.

The Speedmaster Day-Date also features a 24 hour hand and of course a chronograph. With its 39mm diameter a tad bit smaller than the original Moonwatch, which is 42mm. However, going smaller seems to be the trend again, so you won’t look foolish with this watch (you never will with a Speedmaster). Inside ticks Omega caliber 1151, which is based on the ETA/Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement.
