The Speedmaster Moon Room in Amsterdam – Event Report
We mentioned the Speedmaster Moon Room pop-up in Amsterdam already beginning this week. On Speedy Tuesday night, February 28th, we attended the opening.
It has to be said, the people of Ace Jewelers did a truly wonderful job. The Moon Room is a large lounge and gallery which every Speedmaster fan doesn’t want to leave once entered.
Speedmasters and more on show
On both sides of the room various show-windows stand tall against the wall. They’re filled with vintage Speedmaster models, rare limited editions and the most beautiful Speedmasters taken from the current collection. The cabinets are well decorated with Speedmaster-relevant articles like books, straps, aerospace models and the like.
Further there’s a choice of books and catalogues to browse through and learn from. Adequate lounge seats and tables are available to spend your time in.
The official opening of the Moon Room
After all attendees greeted each other with the insuperable drinks in their hands, the opening evening officially started with a short introduction by Alon Ben Joseph of Ace Jewelers followed by a speech of our Robert-Jan Broer. Robert-Jan explained how the Omega Speedmaster became his most beloved watch, he told about the birth and rise of Fratello Watches, and of course about the onset of the #SpeedyTuesday hash tag and the recently introduced Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday limited edition.
As well, Robert-Jan brought the star of the evening. The prototype of the Omega Speedmaster Professional #SpeedyTuesday limited edition. People were happy to hold this watch in the flesh – the watch, sold out already by reservations (and a long waiting list), will only be released in June/July – it became the most pictured watch of the evening.
A lounge where you feel at home
We quote Dale Vito of Ace Online: “We dreamed about something like the Moon Room for quite some time already. And now, after the recent relocation of Ace Online we got the opportunity and space to realize it. Our goal was to create a room where our customers and friends feel at home. The watches, the books, art, magazines: everything breaths Speedmaster. The atmosphere is totally different from our shop, yet 100% Ace.”
The Moon Room can be visited daily by appointment, during opening hours of Ace & Spyer at Koningsplein 1 in Amsterdam. And further there will be three more events to attend; please contact Ace & Spyer for details.
