Yesterday, I’ve received a number of pictures from people working on a new project, IWC Pilot DLC watches. They customized the IWC Pilot Mark XVI ref.3235 and Pilot Chronograph ref.3717 and give it a slide bit of blue by adding a blue NATO strap and a blue second hand. I personally think they did a nice job on these pilot’s watches and it is refreshing to see some non-Rolex customizations for a change.

As you can see, these IWC Pilot watches are now even more stealth looking as they were before. The technical specifications remain the same as that of their original brothers of course (click here), except for the DLC cases and NATO straps. The small blue hand ‘gimmick’ is a very nice feature imho. Personally, I would favor the chronograph..

If you are interested in these customized IWC Pilot Mark XV and Pilot Chronograph watches with DLC finish, please contact me for more detailed information.

  • I like it quite a bit, nice combo.

The blue second hand is nice and a + for the watch but this blue bracelet is awful and not in line with a prestigious brand as IWC.
    It looks like a Flik-Flak bracelet !!!

    • Hi,

Thanks for your comment. You are always free to order it with a leather strap I think. From a historical view point, I do see the ‘logic’ to offer it with a NATO-strap to give it a bit of a military look & feel. However, I don’t care for these myself as well and would wear it on a black leather alligator I think, preferrably with blue stitching.

Not bad…not bad at all. Do however prefer my 3786.

Very nice RJ. I prefer three hands ina watch in general, but on this one I find the blue seconds hand on it a bit too vibrant. I agree with you the color “touch” works better with the chrono.

It’s definitely a much more “tool” look for the IWC, hearkening back to when they were actually such – similar to putting a Rolex on a NATO strap, some people enjoy it, others shudder. 🙂 Personally I’d pick different models for such a treatment, but the quality of the works seems reasonable as far as we can tell from the small pics.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Harry Bishop

    It is still an IWC…

Where can one purchase the NATO strap?
