Chronoswiss Sirius Artist

We covered Chronoswiss last year and mentioned that we sort of ‘lost a bit of track’ with the brand. They happily surprised us with their collection of watches and we’ve been watching them ever since (again). With a brief explanation of the Chronoswiss history in our previous article let’s have a look at their new watch collection. Chronoswiss basically has two collections. The Chronoswiss Timemaster being the sporty collection and Sirius the classic collection. Both collections consist of various models and the classic, with 20 variations up to this date, is most extensive one.

The Artist watches are part of their classic Sirius collection. Introduced in 2013, this exclusive collection unites the hand-crafting art of enamelling, guilloché finish, skeletonizing and detailing. All of which is done in the Chronoswiss atelier. Introduced with three dial configurations and red gold case in 2013, now in 2014 the Artist line got extended.

Pictured below is the Chronoswiss Sirius Artist collection as launched in 2013. They all have the typical Chronoswiss case in red gold with large union shaped crown. At the time they Artist line was available with a blue, brown or silver dial and Louisiana crocodile strap.

They added a two-tone dial which is also available in a different case materials. Pure white enamel is reintroduced as well for the Chronoswiss Sirius Artist. This dial colour was last used in the 1990s. Both enamel colours are translucent which leave the guilloché details on the sterling silver dial visible. Constantly changing its look under any light source (but best and nicest in natural light of course). This makes it one of the best looking dials we have ever seen. Both guilloché detailing and the fire enamelling is done by hand. So each dial is unique and a masterpiece on it’s own. The steel ‘Breguet Losange’ styled hands are gold plated. Sirius-Artist-010The new Chronoswiss Sirius Artist is available in a 40 mm, 18-kt red gold or stainless steel case that is waterproof  up to 3 atm. Both the sapphire crystal on the front and in the one used in the case back have an anti-reflective coating on one side. Like the guilloché on the dial, the skeletonizing and decorations on the manual wound C.642 movement have all been done by hand. The highly decorated movement has various finishes on the base-plate, bridges and gears. According to your personal preference the Louisiana crocodile leather strap is available with a buckle or folding clasp.
