Our bi-weekly cartoon by Teun van Heerebeek is his interpretation of patina. Except for watches, it seems that people rather get rid of patina than to cherish it whether it is cars, art or even on themselves.

The love for patina on timepieces can go beyond reasoning. Authentic and original timepieces are being disassembled to create another watch that has the perfect matching dial and hands, based on the discoloration (patina). For some collectors, the patina makes (or breaks) a watch.
