Hello, and welcome! Thanks for tuning in to this week’s episode of Fratello Talks. Today, Nacho, Morgan, and Daan pick their desert island watches. Say one day you were unfortunate enough to become stranded on a desert island; which watch from your collection would you want there with you? Now, let’s say it’s not a life-or-death situation but more of a leisurely, perhaps even orchestrated self-stranding in your tropical location of choice (a holiday, if you will); what would be your watch of choice for the occasion? Join the guys as they have fun selecting timepieces for these hypothetical scenarios. But before we begin, and all conjecture aside, let’s look at the watches on their wrists today.

Morgan is up first as it’s one of his final episodes of Fratello Talks (at least for a while) before he leaves the Netherlands for his new home on Réunion Island. Getting in the mood for the tropical climate, he has opted to wear the Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II. With its unmistakable pink dial and wearable proportions, it’s a watch that would look right at home on any island, deserted or not.

Next is Daan, who is wearing the Lesablier LS-04 Travelgraph. This is a watch he recently reviewed and one which, thanks to its world-time complication and well-rounded specs, would be a great companion for any island strandings and holidays alike. At least you’d be able to keep track of time back home.

Nacho has opted for a slightly more rugged companion in the RZE Resolute in Desert Tan. With a 100m water resistance rating, a screw-down crown, and a case made of hard-coated titanium, it’s a perfect watch for nearly any adventure.

Fratello Talks: Desert Island Watches

Inspired by the BBC’s long-running program Desert Island Discs, the Fratello Talks guys have set out to make a selection of watches they’d be happy to take to a desert island. Each of them selects one watch from his current collection along with one “unrestricted” option. To Nacho and Daan, this is just a hypothetical scenario. For Morgan, though, this will soon be a very real situation (minus the stranding and the desert part). He will, of course, be taking all his watches with him, but he still entertained the scenario and possibility of narrowing it down to just one. If you want to discover their picks, you’ll have to tune in and listen to the episode! But you can get more than a hint at some of them in the images below.

We’ll also take this opportunity to thank Morgan for his fantastic work here at Fratello over the last 14 months. During this time, he has produced thousands of brilliant images. These have covered anything from some of the most hotly anticipated releases to affordable winners from our favorite microbrands. Regardless of the watch, his pictures were reliably some of the best out there. He’ll be greatly missed, both as a key member of the Fratello team and as an inexhaustible source of positivity and enthusiasm. As always, tune in next week for another episode of Fratello Talks.
