Jannik Sinner Wins His First Wimbledon Title Wearing The Everose Gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona “Sundust”
After a whirlwind fortnight of tennis, Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has won his first Wimbledon title, beating his biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz. Proudly present on the wrist of the 23-year-old Italian, as always throughout the tournament, was his Everose gold Rolex Daytona “Sundust” ref. 126515LN. On the wrist of the 22-year-old Spaniard was the standout Rolex Daytona ref. 126518LN in yellow gold with the blue turquoise dial. It completes a triumphant weekend for Rolex that started with Polish star Iga Swiatek taking the women’s title in a great display of superiority against American Amanda Anisimova. After the match, the Polish player wore her Rolex Datejust ref. 278274 with a beautiful brown dial and Roman numerals, completing the Rolex double in style.
It’s been a great two weeks of tennis on the grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on Church Road in London. With a blistering men’s final between Alcaraz and Sinner, this year’s spectacular Wimbledon tournament got a perfect ending. Sinner showed great determination, ending up winning the match in four sets. After the match, he proudly lifted the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy wearing his Everose Dayona “Sundust.” Both players have made the Rolex Daytona their watch of choice, because Alcaraz wore his turquoise-dial Daytona, which he also wore during Roland-Garros. Adding to the festivities was fellow Rolex ambassador Iga Swiatek’s impressive run to the title, wearing her brown-dial Datejust the day before. After this year’s Wimbledon, there is no denying that Rolex is the dominant watch brand in tennis.
A tumultuous start to Wimbledon 2025
The opening week of Wimbledon 2025 was nothing short of tumultuous. The start of the tournament was a whirlwind of shocks, stunning runs, and big-name battles. The first day alone was good for a record-breaking 23 seeded players to fall in the first round, including eight top‑10 players.
As a result of that whirlwind start, the tournament also lost several big names tied to famous watch brands. From Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen (Rolex) to Jessica Pegula (De Bethune) on the women’s side and Alexander Zverev (Jacob & Co) to Holger Rune (Rolex) on the men’s side, it was a wild ride.
In this wild storm, Sinner proved to be a steady force on the men’s side. He didn’t drop a set in his first three rounds, making him an instant favorite for the title. But in the fourth round, he progressed due to an untimely injury that forced Grigor Dimitrov to retire.
Down two sets and with no signs of finding the answers to Dimitrov’s varied game, it looked like the Daytona “Sundust” would not return for the on-court interview after the match.
Instead, we would have seen Dimitrov’s Bianchet Grand Date Flying Tourbillon B1.618, which he actually wears while playing. But in a surprising turn of events that also shocked Roger Federer, who was present in the Royal Box and wearing the 40mm Land-Dweller, Sinner progressed to the quarter-finals, where he defeated fellow Rolex ambassador Ben Shelton.
Three Rolex ambassadors in the men’s semi-finals of Wimbledon
On the other hand, Alcaraz had a tough time getting past one of the most remarkable characters of the game, Italy’s Fabio Fognini, in the first round. But after overcoming the challenge of winning against the Italian, who announced his retirement not long after, Alcaraz displayed impressive form, especially in his fourth-round match against Andrey Rublev.
He cruised past Brit Cam Norrie in the fourth round in three sets to end up against fellow Rolex ambassador Taylor Fritz. The American wore his trusted two-tone white-dial Daytona during Wimbledon, which he almost always does.
With three Rolex athletes in the semi-finals and Novak Djokovic, a Hublot ambassador, as the fourth player, we knew that at least one Rolex Daytona would make it to the finals. Once the dust settled on the grass courts after the semi-finals, it was clear that the two best players in the world would face each other again in another Grand Slam final.
After the epic battle in Paris, this is the final that tennis fans hoped for. The final ended with a first Wimbledon title for Sinner. He looked like the better and more determined player from the start. After Alcaraz took the first set after being down a break, Sinner took control in the second set, and he broke Alcaraz in every set, serving it out in the fourth. After taking it in for a moment, we witnessed the signature moment that we watch fans loved so much after seeing Federer win — a quick grab in the tennis bag to put the Daytona of choice on the wrist before lifting the trophy.
Świątek wins Wimbledon for the first time
On the women’s side, Polish former world No. 1 Iga Świątek dominated the tournament. She is on her way back to the top of the rankings and won the title in impressive form. On her way to victory, she lost only one set. In her second-round match, she lost the opening set to American Caty McNally but quickly corrected that by winning the following two sets easily.
In the semi-finals, she faced fellow Rolex athlete Belinda Bencic, who beat 18-year-old Rolex newcomer Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals. The Swiss player had a fantastic tournament. She could be seen wearing her Everose gold Rolex Lady-Datejust ref. 279175 on a President bracelet after the matches, during the on-court interviews, and in the press conferences. But she didn’t stand a chance against a superior Świątek.
The Genevan brand’s athletes also dominated the ladies’ tournament
In the other semi-finals, American Amanda Anisimova upset world No. 1 and Audemars Piguet ambassador Aryna Sabalenka in an epic, almost-three-hour battle on Centre Court. Unfortunately, Anisimova couldn’t make the final the exciting battle that many people hoped for. It resulted in an easy but much-deserved win for the Polish star Świątek, who won her first Wimbledon title.
Świątek couldn’t quite find her footing on the grass courts in London for a long time, but that all changed this year. After the match, she could be seen getting a warm hug from former pro tennis player Arnaud Boetsch, who is now Rolex’s Director of Communication & Image. He can be seen as the great architect behind Rolex’s domination in tennis. The brand is quite literally everywhere during Wimbledon in recent years. From the wrists of the players to the scoreboards on every court and the wrists of the many celebrities, Rolex is king on the courts and in the stands of Wimbledon.
Two years ago, I wrote an article teasingly asking what Rolex’s future in tennis would be without Roger Federer. Not only is Federer still very much present, but the brand is also more prominent in tennis than ever. The best proof comes from the winners in this year’s men’s and women’s singles tournaments at Wimbledon. This year’s tournament made for a great two weeks of tennis, leaving us eagerly anticipating what will come next year.
