My watch collection
When I saw the full metall G-Shocks, I decided to add one of these to my collection. At first I hesitated whether to get the normal steel version or the gold colored one. Maybe the latter would be too flashy. In the end I opted for the gold version and still am very happy I did so.
The original all-black "Casioak" probably is the watch which provides the most visual bang for the buck.
Halios Seaforth Bronze
Jason Lim, the founder of Halios, really kills it for me with his watches. They are beautiful designed, well made and really affordable. The 40mm Seaforth Bronze with the blue dial was the first Halios in my collection and is one of my absolute favorites. It comes with three straps (black vintage leather, black isofrene, blue canvas) in a leather travel case. It sits comfortably on the wrist and - on the isofrene strap - is a perfect summer watch.
Halios Laguna (I)
Right after I got my Seaforth Bronze, I acquired the Laguna. The Laguna - mine sports a black dial - is a dive watch with an internal rotating bezel and water resistance up to 500 m. It comes in a simple but nice wooden box, including a screwdriver, a stainless steel bracelet, a medium brown Horween leather strap and a black isofrene strap.
Rolex Lady Datejust
This is the watch I got my wife for our first wedding anniversary in 2019. It is her birth year watch. It is the steel and gold version with a fluted bezel and comes on a jubilee bracelet.
Sicura Jump Hour "Propeller" Automatic
You can find a lot of Sicuras on Ebay - most of them in bad condition. This one though is what you call "new old stock" and comes on its original racing style leather strap. Honestly, I have never seen a Sicura in this good condition. It is a gold plated - as the name already suggests - jump hour watch with a typical design for the 1970s.
Swatch SISTEM51 Hodinkee Generation 1986 (Limited Edition)
I bought this watch, because it reminds me of my very first (S)watch from 1986, which I got in 1987.
Swatch SISTEM51 Hodinkee Summer Edition (Limited Edition)
I was looking for a really affordable, white summer watch, when Hodinkee introduced the "Summer Edition". It basically is the white version of the Generation 1986.
TAG Heuer Monaco Twenty Four - Calibre 36 Automatic Chronograph (Special Edition )
I am a petrolhead with close ties to the world of professional motorsports. Therefore the Heuer Monaco, famously worn by Steve McQueen in the movie "Le Mans", was always on my radar. When I saw this black titanium carbide coated watch with its Gulf racing stripes featured in some lifestyle magazine, I instantly knew I had to get one for myself at some point. I finally bought the watch in 2019, for around 60% of its actual value, from a friend who sold off parts of his collection.
Union Averin Chronograph
This was my very first automatic watch and the start of my dive into the fascinating world of watches. It is the watch within my collection, which I get the most compliments for in real life but that nobody cares for on Instagram.
Universal Geneve n/a
While searching for a Polerouter on Ebay, I stumbled accross this beautiful 35 mm, bumper wind dress watch listed in a wrong category and got it for the starting bid. It is in near mint condition but without its original crown and box and papers.
Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II
I like the watch design of the late 60s and 70s. Therefore the Mark II has always been high up on my shopping list. When I was offered this gold plated version with the red/burgundy tachymeter scale I could not resist. I wear the Speedy on a custom gold plated Forstner Komfit/JB Champion mesh bracelet.
Swatch SISTEM51 Hodinkee Vintage 84 (Limited Edition)
The very first collaboration between Swatch and Hodinkee.
Seiko Prospex Diver's Watch 55th Anniversary Limited Edition - "Captain Willard"
I always liked the design of the (new) "Willard". When Seiko introduced the limited edition in blue, I immediately pulled the trigger. It wears a bit smaller than other 43 mm watches - especially compared to the Halios Laguna. The only issue I have got with the watch - as with other, cheaper, Seikos - is the wiggly bracelet. This is something the Japanese really have to put some work into.
Swatch SISTEM51 Hodinkee Generation 1990 (Limited Edition)
This is the 5th collaboration between Swatch and Hodinkee (Vintage 84, Blue Edition, Generation 1986, Summer Edition) and the one which visually appeals to me the most. It has got a California dial with Roman numerals in the upper half and Arabic numerals in the lower half.
Swatch SISTEM51 Blue Edition for Hodinkee (Limited Edition)
The second collaboration between Swatch and Hodinkee. I owned this watch before, did not like it (at all) and sold it right away for a premium. Bought it again for a really low price via Chrono24 just to complete my "Swatch x Hodinkee" collection.
MING 18.01 H41
This is my first Ming. I love it! Everything about it is just perfect to me, especially the bracelet.
Swatch Swatch x Scottish Watches
This limited edition - it is a quartz - celebrates the 200th podcast episode and 2 year anniversary of "Scottish Watches". The design is by Diana Evans (@dianaevansillustration).
Casio Bio Graph
The Casio Bio Graph has probably been my second overall watch after the Swatch I got in 1987. After you enter your date of birth, the watch shows your bio rythm. Disclosure: It unfortunately is not the watch I owned back then. I recently found this one on Ebay in very good condition.
Halios Laguna II
Halios' Laguna watches rarely surface on the secondary market. The first time I saw a picture of the Laguna II with a sunburst grey dial, I fell in love. In 2020 I already managed to acquire a Laguna (I) with a matte black dial, which immidiately became one of my favorites and probably got the most wrist time in 2020. Finally, in February 2021, a Laguna II with a sunburst grey dial was auctioned via Ebay by its previous and first owner from England.
