IFL Watches Introduces The Citizen Tsuyosa Puzzle Collection
IFL Watches is back with its latest creations, the Puzzle Collection. Based on the Citizen Tsuyosa, the watches are immediately recognizable and inspired by a highly desirable and expensive luxury watch. While these pieces may look familiar, they have a special charm thanks to hand-painted dials.
IFL Watches has created an impressive array of hand-painted marvels using modern watches as a reliable foundation. Watches from Doxa, Bulova, Tissot, Timex, and Citizen are just some of those that have been modified with all manner of artfully created paintwork. Many have included characters or scenes, which is what makes today’s Puzzle Collection so different for the brand.
The IFL Watches Puzzle Collection
IFL Watches’ latest creations use the popular Citizen Tsuyosa models as a base. The Puzzle Collection consists of two variants with either a 37mm or 40mm case and a matching integrated stainless steel bracelet. With sub-12mm profiles, both versions are quite wearable. Inside beats the automatic Citizen 8210 movement with a frequency of 28,800vph and 42 hours of power reserve. Each watch also has a 50m water resistance rating.
Brightly detailed dials
Within the press materials, IFLW doesn’t attempt to hide the inspiration behind the new Puzzle Collection. The brand mentions the popularity and value of puzzle-dial watches among collectors. Admittedly, I only know of one watch with such a visage, but that seems to be the model. The Rolex Day-Date Emoji, also known as the Puzzle, was released in 2023. It was a controversial release to say the least, but its brightly hued champlevé dial has proven to be a success. Granted, it’s an expensive one, with prices hovering around €240,000.
This is where the IFL Puzzle Collection comes in as a more accessible but credible alternative. No, the watch doesn’t feature baguette hour markers or a precious metal case. However, the hand-painted dial is vibrant and fun. Also, the paint has texture and a topography that emulates the aforementioned enamel. Whether on the pink-dial 37mm model or the light-blue-dial 40mm variant, the pattern is at once familiar and attractive.
Limited, but with some decision time
As with all of IFLW’s releases, the Puzzle Collection watches are limited. The brand will make just 200 pieces of each watch with a price of €890 / US$890 / £790. A waitlist was created on the company’s official website, but sales will begin today, October 6th, at 4:00 PM CEST. While some may not appreciate the close proximity of this design to the Rolex, I think it’s fair to say that the Day-Date is out of reach for nearly everyone. That makes this an interesting proposition because it’s approachable and has hand-crafted elements. What do you make of the latest IFL Watches release?
