There’s a new Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance in town, clad in rose gold and black. The 43mm 18k rose gold case features alternating brushed and polished finishes, and the large black off-center dial provides a strong visual contrast. The handcrafted sunray guilloché pattern of the dial, framed by a chapter ring with circular finishing, results from an in-house specialist working with a traditional rose engine lathe. The decorative technique is part of a long tradition, the watch’s design and movement are contemporary and cutting-edge. The dark gray Alcantara strap is a dapper and comfortable choice.

The Mirrored Force Resonance is Armin Strom’s signature timepiece. The manually wound Caliber ARF21 inside the new rose gold case is a Haute Horology masterpiece.  The movement is a unique breakthrough in the mastery of resonance. The movement realizes the synchronization of two balance wheels via the patented Resonance Clutch connected to two oscillators, each with its own balance wheel and hair spring. The complicated mechanism that has challenged many watchmakers in history ensures enhanced precision and chronometric stability.

The Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Rose Gold puts on a grandiose show

The in-house Caliber ARF21 displays hours, minutes, and twin-seconds. What it also displays is outstanding watchmaking. The 276-part  movement measures 37.2 × 6.7mm, and although it’s not a large object, it puts on a grandiose show. A resonance clutch connects the two independent regulating systems vibrating at 3.5Hz. They are the object of pure watchmaking desire. Not just because the 39-jewel movement with a power reserve of 48 hours is a complicated creation, apart from its complexity, it also entices because of its haute horlogerie finishing.

Beating hearts of the Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Rose Gold

Visible through the sapphire crystal on the front and back of the watch are the hand-beveled bridges with their polished and matte finished surfaces, and black-polished screws. There’s also perlage and circular graining to enjoy, which tells you that they don’t cut corners in the Armin Strom atelier in Biel/Bienne. More proof of that is the double assembly. Each watch is assembled twice to ensure the watch’s mechanical precision and finishing are perfectly on point.

Synchronize your watch

To bring the resonance system to life, Armin Strom outfitted the watch with a pusher at 2 o’clock. It allows the wearer to reset the two seconds counters which gives visual proof of the mechanism’s accuracy.

Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Rose Gold

You’ve read about the Armin Strom’s Mirrored Force Resonance concept before, but the complicated watches featuring the innovative mechanism remain fascinating. So when a new colorway debuts, we don’t hesitate to explain the complex mechanical workings again. We also determine if the new look works. To cut a long story short, a rose gold case paired with a black guilloche dial works well.

The 43mm Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Rose Gold

The watch is a lavish contemporary composition with a completely different look than its predecessor. That watch, the cool, collected, and very technical-looking Mirrored Force Resonance Ice Blue, came in a steel case and featured a frosty blue dial. The warm hue of the rose gold, in combination with a deep black dial, results in a lavish, harmonious blend of traditional design features and modern watchmaking.

The Armin Strom Mirrored Force Resonance Rose Gold (RG25-RF.90) is a limited edition of 15 pieces and costs CHF 88,000. When I write that the price for a unique watch like this, which is produced in-house in very limited numbers, and shows meticulous finishing, is fair, what do you write in the comments? And if you need more information on the watch and its availability, please check out the Armin Strom website.
