Fratello Talks: Different Ways To Approach Watches As A Hobby
Have you ever wondered if you’re approaching the watch hobby in the way that suits you best or if social media has influenced how you do so? Today, on Fratello Talks, we’re following up on some of Thomas’s recent thought pieces with a more formal discussion. There are nearly infinite ways to approach the watch hobby. Some can passionately focus on just one reference, while others want variety. While a lucky few will casually purchase a grail-worthy piece, others will be just as happy with affordable, value-driven watches. It goes on and on, and it’s how things should be. In reality, though, we all consume content online and on social media, which influences our perception and can shape how we feel we should approach watches. But those voices, while loud, are limited, and it’s important to be aware that carving a path just for you is the way to go.
Things are about to get philosophical! But first, let’s see what’s on the wrist.
Wrist check
Daan’s Speedmaster, the latest version of the classic Moonwatch featuring caliber 3861, is on his wrist today. It is, of course, the Hesalite version, which true Speedy fans will know is the one to go with. He’s rocking it on a ridged tan suede strap from Chicago strap manufacturer Veblenist.
Thomas is back on the VPC kick, but wearing the blue-dial Type 37HW Delft Blue. We’ve often seen him wear the gray and green versions, but the blue one is a rarer sight. However, due to him having loaned out his gray-dial model to a friend for his wedding, he’s been giving the blue version some time on the wrist.
Last up to bat is your host, Nacho, who is wearing his beloved Omega Seamaster Professional 300M ref. 2254.50. It’s still on the bracelet, which has been his preferred way of wearing it recently. This classic Omega diver from the early 2000s is the SMP’s final iteration featuring sword hands. Whether we’ll see them make a comeback to Omega’s lineup someday remains to be seen. For now, this watch remains a great-looking diver with plenty of charm.
