Introducing: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin In Two New Dial Variations
Vacheron Constantin is celebrating its 270th anniversary in 2025 with a steady stream of new releases. Among them is a pair of fresh takes on one of the most elegant sports watches in its stable, the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. This model has long been a showcase of the maison’s ability to balance sportiness and horological sophistication in a single, slender package.
Now, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin returns in two new executions. One is dressed entirely in pink gold, including a matching golden dial and bracelet. The other combines cool white gold with a high-gloss burgundy lacquered dial for a more daring, high-contrast aesthetic. Join me for a closer look!
An Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin refresher course
Before diving into the new references, let’s refresh your memory on the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. The watch has a 41.5mm case with a svelte 8.1mm thickness. That last number would already be impressive for an automatic watch, let alone one carrying a full perpetual calendar and moonphase display. The Maltese Cross-inspired bezel, integrated bracelet, and quick-change strap system complete the recipe.
Inside ticks Vacheron Constantin’s self-winding caliber 1120 QP/1. This ultra-thin movement incorporates 276 components into its 4.05mm profile. It drives central hands for the hours and minutes along with smaller ones for the day, date, month, and leap-year cycle. Like many perpetual calendars, it includes a moonphase indicator as well. Beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, the movement offers a 40-hour power reserve and consists of a base 1120 and a module providing the complications.
The perpetual calendar remains one of watchmaking’s most technically demanding creations. Accounting for leap years and irregular month lengths, it requires no manual correction until 2100.
New configurations
The new pink gold version takes a ton-sur-ton approach. Its case, bracelet, dial, and even the moonphase display are all fashioned out of the same precious metal, contrasted by a subtle blue minutes track around the perimeter. The blue adds a touch of freshness to what is otherwise a sea of warm gold. I think it helps as a reminder of the sporty nature of the Overseas too.
The white gold model, meanwhile, makes a very different and perhaps bolder statement. Its burgundy lacquered dial is rich, glossy, and quite striking, especially when paired with a matching moonphase disc. White numerals and indexes provide crisp contrast, while the choice of the included burgundy or white rubber straps adds versatility.
Both watches come on 18K gold bracelets with quick-release systems, meaning the wearer can change from a bracelet to a rubber strap quickly and without any tools. The strap options offer versatility, reducing the full-gold watch’s formality by some margin.
Initial impressions of the new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin
On paper, the new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin references are not revolutionary. The movement remains unchanged, and the overall design language is identical to earlier editions. Still, I think these new configurations are quite attractive. The one in pink gold somehow looks subtler than I feel any full-gold sports watch should be able to. Meanwhile, the white gold feels very classical thanks to the purplish burgundy.
At 8.1mm thin, the watch continues to impress as one of the slimmest automatic perpetual calendars on the market. Unfortunately, I cannot attest to the wearability of the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin since I have yet to go hands-on with these. I can imagine they might wear quite large due to the combination of a royal diameter and a very slim case. The Overseas case does not curve around the wrist, meaning these will probably have a commanding stance on the forearm.
The new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin models cost an eye-watering €137,000 (including 22% VAT), so don’t expect to see them on the street every day. But, then again, Vacheron’s motto is “One of not many” for a reason.
