Last week the entire Fratello Watches team travelled to London to visit the SalonQP 2014 exhibition in the Saatchi Gallery. Although we skipped last year, the SalonQP is a visit worthwhile.

SalonQP 2014 Visit Report

SalonQP gives you – as a consumer or watch enthusiast – the opportunity to see watches from the affordable and fun SevenFridays to the most complex haute horlogerie creations such as those from Vacheron Constantin, Grönefeld, MB&F, Urwerk and so on. Also, brands like Sinn, Nomos, Pinion, Montblanc, TAG Heuer, Bremont, Zenith were present during the SalonQP exhibition. Also, all winners of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2014 were displayed on the first floor.

You could say that SalonQP made sure the whole range of watch enthusiasts would have a fun and especially interesting time.

Auction houses Bonhams and Watches of Knightsbridge were present to show items from their upcoming auctions. Also dealers of multiple brands were present during the SalonQP. WatchFinder for example had a wonderful line-up of both pre-owned watches and new watches from Ressence and the aforementioned SevenFriday.

Brands like Zenith, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Montblanc brought their watch makers and artisans to give demonstrations to the visitors of their skills while TAG Heuer had some entertainment which involved a bit more interaction with the visitor. It was great to see that the brands, auction houses, watch dealers and other representatives really took care of the visitors and made sure they had a wonderful time.

The opening reception took place on November 6th in the evening and drew the attention of a lot of journalists and other people from various watch publications. Being it printed media, blogs, on-line magazines or instagrammers, it was packed.

On Friday and Saturday during day time the SalonQP 2014 exhibition was focused on those interested in watches. Although we didn’t attend any of the seminars, there were a bunch of very interesting topics to be touched (click here for an overview). Our friend Ross Povy from the Tudor Collectors website spoke about [collecting] vintage and rare Tudor watches while James Dowling and his expert panel members Danny Pizzigon and Bernard Bulang talked about the magical world of vintage Rolex collecting.

We will do some separate articles on some of the exceptional watches we’ve seen in London. Make sure to follow us on IG and sign-up for our newsletter to stay informed.

If you are around, make sure to visit next year’s SalonQP 2015! More information can be found on www.salonqp.com.
