Introducing: The Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon
Did you know that during the Christmas period, salmon consumption rises sharply? A substantial share of annual sales happens in December, particularly in Europe. In fact, around 25% of all smoked salmon is sold during this time. And with that in mind, look at the new Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon. The watch is not new, but the mouth-watering salmon-colored mainplate is. The striking new creation debuts just in time for Christmas. But please keep in mind that quantities are limited, meaning you might not want to rely on Santa to deliver one. Instead, you’d better take charge of matters and secure one yourself.
The new Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon (ref. ST24-GEF.SAL / CHF 27,500) might look familiar. That’s because you probably read about the Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Blue on Fratello. Armin Strom has reimagined its in-house micro-rotor movement by pairing it with a salmon-hued, PVD-coated mainplate. The tasty background is framed by a stainless steel 41mm case and paired with a gray nubuck strap featuring matching stitching and keepers.
Introducing the Xmas-ready Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon
This latest version of the “GEF” is a modern expression of Haute Horlogerie. The blend of contemporary and traditional design is very Armin Strom, if you know what I mean. Just look at the industrial-looking bridges, and you’ll see shapes, materials, and finishing following the brand’s enduring aesthetic codes. Like its blue predecessor, the new watch has a 41mm case and is part of the System 78 collection. This line of timepieces is a clear expression of Armin Strom’s independent spirit and innovative approach to horology.
Powering the Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon is the ASB19. This is the first caliber to combine a stop-work declutch mechanism within the barrel with a micro-rotor. This patented solution ensures constant force delivery to the balance wheel across the full 72-hour power reserve, enhancing isochronism and accuracy. The use of a compact micro-rotor ensures the watch has a slim profile. The open design offers a great view of the movement from both the front and the back.
Finished by hand
As with every Armin Strom timepiece, manual finishing is paramount. Each component of the caliber ASB19 is manually decorated at the brand’s manufacture in Biel/Bienne. Beveled and polished bridges, black-polished screws, circular graining, Geneva stripes, and perlage are proof that the young brand makes a significant effort to honor and continue traditional craftsmanship. Furthermore, the salmon-colored mainplate, developed in collaboration with independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen, is adorned with an intricate hand-guilloché pattern that adds depth and richness. The sapphire dial offers an unobstructed view into the heart of the movement.
Limited annual production
The Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Salmon is produced in a strictly limited series of 25 pieces per year. Too-simple math teaches us that AS could make 50, but since the watchmakers assemble every watch twice to ensure impeccable performance and finish, it does limit production. What do you think? Is this salmon-colored version the GEF you have been waiting for?
