Fratello Dress Watch Season: The Search for 2025’s Most Elegant Timepiece
As the year progresses and new releases continue to shape the horological landscape, Fratello is turning its attention to one of watchmaking’s most enduring genres, the dress watch. Welcome to Fratello Dress Watch Season, a new series that brings together eight of our writers — and you, our readers — to determine which of this year’s refined timepieces best represents modern elegance.
Following in the footsteps of our Summer Splash and Seiko World Cup competitions, this new series moves away from sporty versatility and focuses instead on proportion, restraint, and timeless design. The goal is simple — to find the standout dress watch among the 2025 releases.
How it works
In this first phase, we present 34 dress watches launched in 2025, carefully selected to represent a wide range of brands, styles, and price points. From contemporary independents to established maisons, each piece showcases a different interpretation of formal watchmaking today. This is by no means an exhaustive list of all of 2025’s releases; rather, it is a more curated selection of the year’s dressiest watches.
Your task as readers is to vote for your favorite watch from this initial list. Once the voting concludes, the eight most voted-for models will advance to the next stage. At that point, each of our writers will be assigned one of the finalists to champion through a series of head-to-head matchups.
The process will continue until only one watch remains — the Fratello Dress Watch Season Champion of 2025, chosen by you.
Fratello Dress Watch Season: the dress watch of 2025
Before the voting begins, it’s worth considering what a dress watch means in today’s context. While the traditional formula — a slim case, minimal dial, and discreet presence — persists, modern interpretations have evolved.
In 2025, the definition of “dress watch” is broader than ever. Some brands are introducing contemporary materials, others are experimenting with complications or unconventional layouts, while a few remain steadfastly classic. What unites them all is a focus on refinement and wearability, qualities that make these pieces suitable for formal occasions or simply for those who appreciate understated design.
How to participate
We invite you to browse through the 34 nominated watches below and vote for the one you believe best embodies the essence of a modern dress watch.
Once voting closes, we’ll publish the results and begin the knockout rounds, in which a Fratello writer will defend each of the top eight watches. Through arguments, comparisons, and reader votes, the field will narrow until one timepiece is crowned the ultimate dress watch of 2025.
