Fratello Talks: Top Brands’ Overlooked Watches
We’re all more than familiar with the Speedmasters, Submariners, and Royal Oaks of this world. We’re even familiar with the Ingenieurs, Reversos, and Andy Warhols. But many watches in top brands’ catalogs are painfully overlooked. On today’s episode of Fratello Talks, we’re taking a look at a handful of them. You might not hear about these watches every day, but we believe they deserve more credit than they get. Of course, these will just be some of the many underappreciated watches out there, so if we missed one of your favorites, be sure to let us know. But now, let’s see what the guys have on their wrists today.
Wrist check
RJ is wearing his daily beater, the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary in 18K Moonshine Gold. There aren’t many folks out there who can genuinely say that about a gold Speedy, let alone one as collectible as this one. But as you’ve seen over the past few weeks, RJ isn’t afraid to wear it day in, day out.
There’s nothing too shocking here either as Thomas is still spending time with his VPC Type 37HW.
And finally, Nacho is mixing it up with a watch he has owned for longer than any of the other watches you’ve seen him wear, but this one has never made it into the wrist check. It’s an Omega Genève ST 166.0190 from 1974. It has been with him since he was a student, but he only got around to servicing it recently. Now it’s fully ready for many years of wrist time to come. The Fixoflex bracelet on it is how it came when he bought it, and after a thorough cleaning and minor repair, it continues to be his preferred way of wearing it.
