Hi there, and welcome to this week’s episode of Fratello Talks. Today, we’ve decided to take on the challenge of selecting the watches we’d buy new at three price points. We start with the sub-€1k price segment, then jump to the sub-€5k, and end up selecting what we’d buy for €10k or less. No pre-owned or vintage watches are allowed; only the current-catalog references that anyone should be able to go out and buy today can be chosen. Nacho, RJ, and Thomas gather in the studio to talk through their selection. They also discuss some honorable mentions and include a no-budget pick to wrap things up. But before we get into it, it’s time for a wrist check.

Wrist check

There are no surprises from Thomas this week, as he continues to wear his VPC Type 37HW Delft Blue. Though he has recovered his Dove Grey model, it seems he gained some fondness for the blue one in its absence.

Rolex Day-Date 18238 pocket shot

RJ is here to set the gold standard, as usual, but this week with his Rolex Day-Date 18238 from the early ’90s. As much as he enjoys the full-gold look of this most opulent of timepieces, RJ has ordered a white dial to make it more legible and change the vibe. We can’t wait to see it!

Omega Seamaster Professional 300M 2254.50 pocket shot

Nacho, also reinventing the wheel, is wearing his Omega Seamaster Professional 300M ref. 2254.50.00. Though still on the bracelet, it likely won’t be for long. Usually, it doesn’t take more than a couple of weeks for him to default back to a NATO or rubber strap, and this steely streak is bound to end soon.

Fratello Talks: Watches We’d Buy New At Three Price Points

We often talk about all-time favorite watches or the best at a certain price point. But what if we were actually spending our hard-earned cash? Would we stick to the usual suspects or go with something totally different? Today, you’ll find out. In this episode of Fratello Talks, Nacho, Thomas, and RJ must select watches they’d buy new today at three price points. As always, we won’t give everything away here, but we will give you a taste of their picks by revealing the watches they would choose in the sub-€5,000 segment.

As you saw in the header image, RJ went with the Tudor Black Bay Pro. Inspired by the Rolex Explorer II 1655 “Freccione,” it’s a capable flyer-style GMT with a lot of bang for the buck. Thomas, on the other hand, chose the solar-powered version of Cartier’s biggest icon, the Tank Must Large SolarBeat. Finally, your host, Nacho, selected the Doxa Sub 300 Carbon in the yellow (or Divingstar) colorway.

Be sure to tune in to hear about all of our choices, including a final no-budget pick. Let us know which currently available new watches you’d pick at these three price points, and come back next week for more Fratello Talks!
