Introducing: The Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition
The Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition brings together Brew’s coffee-themed Metric chronograph and YouTuber-turned-retailer Teddy Baldassarre. This special edition keeps the Metric’s compact 36mm case and VK68 mecha-quartz movement while adding a layered blue dial, a revised handset, and a new engraved case back.
The collaboration traces back to a 2018 conversation between Teddy and Brew founder Jonathan Ferrer. This release feels like a natural extension of that early connection — a curated version of the Metric with some aesthetic changes.
The Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition
Brew designed the Metric around a passion for coffee, intending it as an espresso-shot timer. The Teddy Baldassarre Edition keeps that identity intact. The dial builds depth through alternating tones of blue and recessed sub-dials, with the familiar espresso-timing scale between 25 and 35 seconds sitting on the main dial’s minute track.
This model reflects a long-standing rapport between Teddy and Jonathan rather than a commercial collaboration from scratch. The adjustments are subtle — a different chronograph hand, a special color scheme, and an engraved steel back. Nothing structural has changed here, keeping the watch firmly within the Metric family.
The Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition’s specifications
The case has a 36mm diameter, a 10.75mm thickness, and a 41.5mm lug-to-lug. It is made of 316L stainless steel with a case back engraved to mark the collaboration. It also offers a sapphire crystal and a 50m water resistance rating. The watch comes on a steel bracelet with a folding clasp and micro-adjustment, for which you will need a pointy tool. The collaborative version costs US$475.
Inside ticks the Seiko VK68 mecha-quartz chronograph movement. It provides quartz accuracy while allowing a crisp, mechanical-style chronograph start, stop, and instant reset. This leaves little to complain about, as it offers functionality, reliability, and strong affordability.
The dial defines this latest edition. It uses a dark blue base with tonal contrasts on the sub-dials. The sub-dial at 10 o’clock has a flat surface, while the sub-seconds register at 6 is concave. BGW9 Super-LumiNova appears on the hands and the applied indexes. The espresso-shot scale remains on the minute track, and the Brew logo is debossed discreetly next to the index at 3 o’clock.
Initial impressions of the Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition
Sometimes I can just keep it short and sweet: what’s not to like? This Brew Metric Teddy Baldassarre Edition keeps everything we always liked about the Brew Metric and presents it in a fresh new aesthetic. The co-branding is kept neatly to the case back, which means this is quite simply a good-looking new version of an already appealing watch.
On a personal note, I have to say I enjoy this coming together of these two characters. I vividly remember when Teddy’s YouTube channel appeared on the scene. Brew’s entry into the watch game also feels like it might have been yesterday. To see Teddy and Jonathan now run established watch businesses and celebrate that fact with a collaborative watch is downright cool. It shows that the watch world is broader than a handful of ancient brands, and people are still making disruptive new moves. The fact that these two young guys can forge a path in this traditional and rather conservative market is highly encouraging.
