Introducing: The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01759 Limited Edition
Though 2025 may be drawing to a close, Panerai isn’t ready to stop just yet. Just in time for the holiday season, we have a new limited-edition piece that should please collectors who love retro details. The new Luminor Marina PAM01759 is the type of watch I love seeing from the brand due to its vintage charm and simplicity.
From the early to mid-2000s, Panerai would announce its limited-edition models once a year. The news was always highly anticipated. Once the models broke cover, the Paneristi forum was abuzz with opinions and hopes to score a favored piece. Now, Panerai, like most other brands, releases its new watches throughout the year. I suppose it’s better that way, but at least today’s new Luminor Marina PAM01759 resembles a watch that fits in with renowned references like the PAM00127 and PAM00249.
The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM01759
Panerai’s newest model uses the familiar 44mm 1950 case in stainless steel. While the brand didn’t provide thickness figures, we expect it to surpass the models announced at Watches and Wonders 2025 on account of its highly domed sapphire crystal. From a finishing standpoint, the expected polished bezel sits atop a brushed case. In celebration of its original sporting intent, the watch has a depth rating of 300 meters. To easily exploit this capability, a lug on either end is outfitted with the company’s push-button spring-bar-release system. Using this, the owner can easily swap the standard brown calf strap with the included black rubber version. A large trapezoidal pin buckle manages fastening duty.
The beloved sandwich dial with full numerals
Panerai states that the PAM01759 dial is inspired by the company’s early days as a producer of underwater instruments for the Italian Navy. The result is a matte black sandwich dial with Arabic hour numerals completely encircling it. Green Super-LumiNova gives off vintage vibes and is consistent on the numerals, sub-seconds register, and hands. Thankfully, there’s no date display, which helps the watch maintain a clean appearance. Warm beige text for the brand and model name is pleasantly kept to a minimum.
Equipped with the self-winding P.9010
The PAM01759 uses the brand’s P.9010 automatic caliber. This thoroughly modern movement has a weekend-proof 72-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Give credit to the twin barrels for the three days of flexibility.
Thoughts on the Luminor Marina PAM01759 and pricing
Panerai will make 1,000 pieces of the PAM01759. While some may cringe at the thought of another limited edition, this feels like an appropriate number to me. Plus, with a price of €9,900 / US$10,200, it will be a considered purchase. That said, I like this release quite a lot. The warm, domed crystal and throwback dial design remind me of a very different era in watch collecting. If I had one recommendation, it would be a manual-wind movement, but I suppose that’s a bit too niche. Overall, this is yet another reason to visit my local Panerai boutique during the holidays.
