This new MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold will become available on December 4th. However, after that date, this MoonSwatch model will be available only when the Swiss see snowflakes. Though it will be for sale at select Swatch boutiques worldwide, it will be subject to local weather conditions in Switzerland. And the sales of this new MoonSwatch will end on March 20th, 2026, when winter comes to an end.

I don’t think I have heard of a similar sales strategy before. Still, assuming there will be snow sometime between December 5th and March 20th, there’s a somewhat higher probability that these watches will be available than those that were only for sale for one day.

A unique snowflake disc in Moonshine Gold

Anyways, we’re looking at the new Swatch MoonSwatch Mission To Earthphase Moonshine Gold. The gold treatment applies to the two moons on the disc between 2 and 3 o’clock. For this edition, one of those moons bears a unique engraving of a snowflake. Therefore, no two of these watches will be identical, just like real snowflakes.

MoonSwatch characteristics

This MoonSwatch is technically identical to the other Mission to Earthphase models. Its 42mm Bioceramic case keeps the signature asymmetry of Omega’s Speedmaster Professional. The MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold’s case is white and features a white opaline dial, creating a proper snow-white ensemble.

Like all MoonSwatches, this new MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold houses a quartz movement. The added earthphase and moonphase complications provide unexpected depth to the chronograph.

Earthphase and moonphase

Swatch’s Mission to Earthphase combines both moonphase and earthphase complications into one watch. As mentioned, between 2 and 3 o’clock sits a twin-moonphase display adorned in Omega’s proprietary Moonshine Gold, a yellow gold alloy known for its subtle, paler tone.

At 10 o’clock, you’ll find the earthphase indicator, Swatch’s twist on celestial timekeeping. Instead of showing how the Moon appears from Earth, it shows how Earth appears from the Moon. When we see a full Moon, someone standing on the Moon would see a “new Earth,” and vice versa.

“I beat everybody…”

The hour markers and hands have an application of green-glowing Super-LumiNova. A UV light will reveal a “secret” sentence next to the image of Snoopy and Woodstock that says, “I beat everybody…” On the case back, under the battery cover, we find that sentence once more in blue. This MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold also comes complete with a white rubber strap with a white Bioceramic loop.

The retail price of this watch is CHF 350 / €385. You can find more information via the Swatch website.
