Oris Introduces The Stylish Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye”
We have a huge soft spot for the classic Oris Big Crown Pointer Date here at Fratello. It is one of our favorites from the brand for several different reasons, not least of all because we collaborated with Oris on a Fratello limited edition of the “BCPD” in 2020. Over time, Oris has updated this staple watch, but a classic, characteristic version with a coin-edge bezel has always been part of the brand’s lineup since 1938. Today marks the return of the classic Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye.” It’s the first time in nearly three decades that this favorite among collectors has returned to the catalog. Even better, this one is a regular addition to the collection, not a limited edition.
When Oris updated the Big Crown collection, some fans worried that it would be the end of the classic Big Crown Pointer Date with the signature coin-edge bezel. This Oris classic has been a fan favorite for many years. We are definitely among those fans, as our “FratellOris” limited edition perfectly showed. It’s always fun to see when someone wears that oxblood-dial Big Crown Pointer Date to the office, as it marked a great collaboration with Oris for us. Especially on the gray NATO strap, it still looks stunning. As you will understand, a new classic Big Crown Pointer Date always piques our interest.
The classic Oris Big Crown Pointer Date
To be clear, the classic Big Crown Pointer Date never left the Oris collection. As recently as October 2025, the brand added a new model to the lineup with the Cervo Volante Big Crown Pointer Date, which Daan wrote about. The Indian-summer-like dial was a great addition to the lineup that we greatly enjoyed. Its color gradient fits the overall aesthetic of the watch perfectly. With the beautiful deerskin leather strap from Cervo Volante, it was a stylish new version of the Big Crown Pointer Date.
For the new Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye,” Oris takes a deep dive into its history of independence. The new model celebrates the maverick spirit that has always characterized the Hölstein brand. Ever since its founding in 1904, Oris has always carved out a path of its own in the Swiss industry. The new “Bullseye” variant of the Big Crown Pointer Date celebrates that spirit in style.
The “Bullseye” dial is not new for Oris. A two-tone dial like this first appeared in the Oris catalog in the 1910s. It would appear time and again through the years, and the style especially enjoyed great popularity in the mid-20th century. The special dial then made an appearance in 1998, but it has not been part of the Oris collection since then. Now, though, for the first time in almost 30 years, the “Bullseye” dial returns. And the great thing is that it is paired with the Sellita-powered version of the Big Crown Pointer Date.
The details of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye”
Let’s jump into some specs. The Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” has a 38mm by 45.5mm stainless steel case with a 12.2mm thickness (including the crystal) and a 50m water resistance rating. This case features the eponymous big crown on the right side and a signature fluted bezel on top. Underneath the double-domed sapphire glass lies a black and white dial with a red date scale and a central date pointer with a red tip. The red accents add a lovely bit of visual pizzazz to the dial. If it had been just black and white, it might have been a bit boring, so I applaud the Oris designers for adding the touches of red.
If you’re familiar with the Big Crown Pointer Date, you’ll know that it is very easy to navigate. On this model, a wide black ring holds the large Arabic hour numerals. Outside of that ring is a black printed minute/seconds track encircled by the red date scale around the dial’s perimeter. The lume-filled cathedral hands indicate the hours and minutes, while a thin central hand hovers nicely over the railroad track to indicate the seconds. Lastly, there is the characteristic date hand, which stands out immediately due to the unique shape of the red tip.
The Sellita-based Oris caliber 754
If you turn the watch around, you’ll see the signature red rotor of the Oris caliber 754 inside. This automatic movement is based on the Sellita SW200-1. The caliber is modified with a pointer date complication and the red Oris rotor. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 26 jewels, and offers a 41-hour power reserve. It is a perfect caliber for the Big Crown Pointer Date, as it is reliable and easy to service while keeping the price affordable.
Finishing the look of the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” is a black Cervo Volante strap made of sustainable deer leather. It features quick-release spring bars, making it easy to swap it for a different strap whenever you choose. As some of you might know, the Big Crown Pointer Date models are proper strap monsters. These watches look good on a variety of leather and NATO straps. I can easily see this “Bullseye” version looking great on a gray or light blue nubuck strap, among others.
Final thoughts on the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye”

Considering its historical relevance for Oris, I expect that many fans will jump on the occasion to buy one. But regardless of whether you’re an Oris aficionado or not, the dial looks stylish and elegant, making this a great release.
