Introducing: The ArtyA Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium
I always enjoy seeing ArtyA’s latest releases. The brand often blends fun themes that appeal to rock stars and artists. Over the last several years, though, the Purity collection has ushered in a new design language. The watches are still quite modern, but the case shapes are more organic. Importantly, the case sizes work better for someone with a smaller wrist. The brand’s newest release, the Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium, looks like another beauty that I’d happily wear.
While ArtyA has a strong focus on sapphire-cased watches in head-turning hues, releases like the Purity Wavy show how using titanium can result in equally attractive statement pieces. Until now, the Curvy line has existed with various sapphire cases. Today, we’re breaking down a new debut in the Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium.
The ArtyA Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium
The latest ArtyA pieces are available in a sculpted Grade 5 titanium case with a mostly blasted finish and a mirror-polished edge on the bezel. This case is available with either a transparent or black DLC coating and a variety of colored hour/minute and seconds tracks inside. The watch’s size is in the sweet-spot range for many, with a 38.5mm diameter and 43mm length. Its 12mm profile is also reasonable.
We’re seeing an increasing number of Haute Horlogerie brands attempting to make their watches suitable for daily wear. These watches fit that description with a commendable 50m water resistance rating. On the other hand, before a dip, it might be wise to switch out the pin-buckle-equipped nubuck strap to a more water-friendly option.
A beautiful dial showing off the mechanical movement
Each Purity Curvy HMS Mirror Titanium has an open-worked dial with a vertical design. At the bottom, a scalloped set of three bridges houses the escapement. Each is coated with iron beads and receives hand-finished anglage. Moving upwards, a small seconds ring intersects the hour/minute track. These “sub-dials” are both fitted with dauphine hands sporting polished chamfers and brushed top surfaces. Twin barrels sit below the displays. Finally, the Purity’s trademark crown caps off the case at 12. On the rear, ArtyA offers the option of a transparent display or, fittingly, a one-way-mirrored case back.
Rock ‘n’ Roll isn’t dead
ArtyA’s in-house movement doesn’t have a series of digits and letters for a name. Instead, the name is Stairway to Heaven, which refers to its stepped appearance. However, it’s hard not to think of Led Zeppelin! It is a stunningly simple manual-winding caliber with impressive specifications. This 22-jewel caliber rips power chords at 28,800vph. The 72-hour power reserve is also worth noting. All in all, the movement consists of 134 components, but it has a beautifully simple appearance.
Pricing and availability
Just 99 of these watches will be produced. Regardless of whether a transparent or black DLC coating is chosen, the price is CHF 27,900 / €29,900 / US$35,900 (all ex. taxes). That seems quite competitive. As always, we’ll come back with more once we get our hands on one of these watches. For now, it looks like an intriguing option for a modern-looking yet wearable piece.
