Piaget Introduces New Versions Of The Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon And 910P
While many brands have focused their efforts on producing smaller watches, it’s nice to see Piaget carrying the banner for thin ones with its Altiplano series. As a longtime producer of wafer-like timepieces, the company continues to push boundaries with innovation. One example includes using the case back as the mainplate to reduce thickness. Today’s pieces aren’t brand new, but they offer refreshing takes on two lovely Altiplano models.
With the recent clamor over the resissued Polo and Andy Warhol models, perhaps the Altiplano collection has been lost in the shuffle. Piaget is here today to rectify any of those thoughts with new colorways for two of its most visually arresting models. The Altiplano Ultimate Tourbillon Concept and 910P are now available in green and gold.
The Altiplano Ultimate Tourbillon Concept
In 2024, Piaget released the Ultimate Concept Tourbillon Limited Edition to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The watch retained the impressive 2mm overall thickness first shown on the Ultimate Concept as an experiment in 2018. That watch entered serial production in 2021. The 2024 edition stunned as the world’s thinnest tourbillon, a record held for a year until Bvlgari introduced its 1.85mm-slim Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon in 2025. Still, for those seeking a more traditional round watch, the Piaget is king.
The latest 41.5mm piece uses the in-house 970P-UC manual-winding caliber with a flying tourbillon. It includes gold details, such as screws and the one-minute tourbillon display scale. Green is used on the dial display and around the crown assembly. A green leather strap features the brand’s new Polish Mesh pattern, evoking metalwork.
Amazingly, this barely-there movement runs at 28,800vph and offers 40 hours of power reserve. Every detail is on display via the 0.2mm-thick sapphire crystal, including the tourbillon at 10 o’clock and the open barrel at the bottom of the dial.
As mentioned, this Altiplano uses its case back as the mainplate. Piaget employs an incredibly stiff cobalt alloy for this to provide adequate robustness. Impressively, the case back includes a small display of the tourbillon works. Piaget has not released pricing on this piece, but based on last year’s LE, we can expect it to be around CHF 600,000.
The Altiplano 910P
At 4.3mm thick, the Altiplano 910P may sound chunky compared to the Ultimate Concept Tourbillon, but that’s an unfair comparison. The 41mm case is now available in 18K yellow gold with a khaki-green dial. It has a large time display on the upper left of the dial and is surrounded by various visible movement components. This includes a power reserve indicator on the lower left. Piaget includes a matching green alligator strap with the watch. While the strap alone discourages any forays into the water, it’s nice to know that the watch has a 2ATM splash resistance rating.
Other details on the Altiplano 910P include the use of Piaget’s cross-shaped motif on the dial and screws. From a performance perspective, the 910P automatic has 46 hours of power reserve and a frequency of 21,600vph. Among the 258 components within the caliber is a suspended barrel. Furthermore, despite the impressive thickness, watchmakers have added anglage, brushed bridges, and wheels. The closed case back also features circular satin brushing.
Once again, Piaget has not revealed the list price of the latest Altiplano 910P, but other gold models are priced at €39,400. That’s not inexpensive, but it makes for a far more visually impactful option when compared to a similarly priced traditional dress watch.
Parting thoughts
With these updated Altiplano models, Piaget has created two intriguing options. The colors are on point and certainly fashionable at the moment, but they should also stand the test of time. Regarding availability, it’s wise to visit the nearest Piaget authorized seller and inquire. Regarding the tourbillon, lucky potential owners will be pleased to note that the brand offers a suite of customization options, including but not limited to bespoke engravings. For such a special watch, why not add something meaningful and personal?
