I Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghost! Introducing The Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2025 Edition In Two Sizes
Spinnaker is back to haunt you. Once again, the Fleuss dive watch — not a watch named after a character from the movie Ghostbusters, mind you, but after influential diver and dive engineer Henry Albert Fleuss — is the medium that makes ghosts appear. The Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2025 Edition is available in two variations — the 40mm Phantom Steel and the 43mm Phantom White.
Spinnaker, a brand founded by a group of enthusiasts in Hong Kong in 2013, is doing it again. Like in 2023 and 2024, the brand and Parisian watch artist Romaric André, better known as seconde/seconde/, created Halloween-themed dive watches. And for the first time, you get to choose between two sizes.
The Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2025 Edition: Phantom Steel
The first “scary monster” is the Phantom Steel. The first batch of this watch is limited to 1,050 pieces, each with a price of US$525. The 40mm steel case has a 47mm lug-to-lug and a 12.5mm thickness, including the protruding crystal. You are right if you think those are pretty sweet proportions for a diver! Spinnaker rates the water resistance at 150 meters. You get everything you might ask for specs-wise, including sapphire crystals on the front and back, a screw-down crown, and a 120-click unidirectional bezel.
More importantly, you get a special “phantom” dial in spectral gray. The ghosts on it flicker to life in the dark, accompanied by luminous indexes and hands. The sunray-brushed, wavy bezel is new and mimics the phantom design, while an upgraded stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet and a white glow-in-the-dark nylon strap complete the watch that will have you humming Saint-Saëns’s Danse Macabre in no time.
Also scary: The Phantom White
The Phantom White has a 43mm diameter, a 51mm lug-to-lug, and a 13.5mm thickness. This bigger “ghost” starts with a run of 1,150 pieces and costs US$475. Yes, you read that right — the big, scary watch is less costly than the little watch.
Perhaps somewhat puzzlingly, the Phantom White and Phantom Steel share the same dial color and design. However, the movements are different, which probably explains the price difference. The official press info says “Japan Automatic with 3 Hands Date.” In the Phantom Steel, that’s a Miyota 9015, and in the bigger Phantom White, it’s a Seiko NH35. You can catch a glimpse of the movements through the display case back, but they lie mostly hidden beneath ghost-shaped rotors. On the rotors are spooky ghost eyes executed in black lume, which you’ll also see on the side of the case. This motif continues on the dial as well, in the form of the double oval-shaped date windows and luminous date discs.
On the back of both iterations of the first run of the Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2025 Edition, you will find an engraving with each watch’s individual number, “2025 Edition,” and “Batch No.1.” These watches will ship out on October 24th. However, those who are asleep during the launch on October 17th will get a second chance. Spinnaker will later offer a second batch, with each watch engraved “2025 Edition,” “Batch No. 2,” and individually numbered “1 of X” to reflect exact production. Delivery for these pieces is expected in May 2026.
The Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ 2025 Edition will launch at 06:30 CEST on October 17th. If you’d like to get a one-hour head start on ordering one, you should head to the Spinnaker Watches website. If you dare, that is…
