Traveling All Corners Of The Globe With The IFL Watches × Perrelet Weekend GMT Atlas

The idea behind the IFL Watches × Perrelet Weekend GMT Atlas
One glance at the regular Perrelet Weekend GMT will tell you that the artists at IFL Watches completely changed the look of the watch. The standard Weekend GMT is a travel version of Perrelet’s classic dress watch. The idea behind this new collaborative effort, however, was to display the world on one dial. The central premise is that events are occurring around the globe simultaneously. Somewhere, it is dawn over a rainforest while snow settles on a distant peak, and noon burns above the desert as the tide turns cold and dark on another shore.
For frequent travelers, keeping track of multiple horizons simultaneously is second nature. Whether it’s places that you have already visited or destinations still to be explored, that magic of travel is always relevant. The new Perrelet Weekend GMT Atlas is the perfect reminder of that.
To bring this idea to life, the team at IFLW hand-painted the blue dials of 50 Perrelet Weekend GMT watches. The center of the dial reimagines a compass rose as a world map. Framing it is the blue ring that holds the white 24-hour scale.
The outer ring displays four hand-painted scenes from distant corners of the globe. We see a scarlet macaw in the rainforest, palms along a warm shore, arctic peaks, and the pyramids rising from the desert. The result is a colorful dial that will constantly remind you of the magic of these exotic places.
Transforming a classic watch
The applied hour markers make it easy to read the time without interfering with the hand-painted scenes on the dial. Hovering over the dial are the thin hour, minute, and seconds hands that display the local time. The red-tipped GMT hand indicates the home time on the dial’s 24-hour ring. At the 3 o’clock position, you will find the date window, which feels nicely integrated into the overall composition. The dial sits inside a 39mm stainless steel case with a 9.61mm profile, a 47.3mm lug-to-lug, and a 50m water resistance rating. Fitted to this classically shaped exterior is a seven-row stainless steel bracelet with alternating brushed and polished finishes and a push-button butterfly clasp.
Powering the new IFLW × Perrelet Weekend GMT Atlas is the in-house Perrelet P-401. This 25-jewel automatic GMT caliber operates at 28,800 vph and offers a 42-hour power reserve. It’s also visible through the case back’s sapphire display, which is a nice detail when you take the watch off your wrist.

Overall, this project is a nice next step in IFLW’s ever-growing series of limited editions.
