Farer watches always stand out in the large crowd of available options today. The British brand creates watches that distinguish themselves through playful yet clever designs. The elegant case shapes, arrow-shaped brand logo, distinct numeral style, and colorful dials ensure that the watches are instantly recognizable. In particular, the colors stand out to me. Farer uses colors incredibly well. Not only do the designers pick colors that other brands often shy away from, but they also choose the perfect shades of them. With the new Farer Lissom collection, the brand once again shows the magic of well-designed watches in combination with a rich palette of colors. I had a chance to go hands-on with the raspberry-red and purple Farer Lissom Arber, a great modern-day dress watch.

Let’s kick things off with an observation. As soon as you go through the new Farer Lissom collection, its great diversity stands out. Whether you prefer more conservative colors or love a more distinct presence for your modern dress watch, the brand has you covered.  I say “dress watch,” but this is just a great daily wearer. The Lissom series elegantly walks the fine line between dress watches suited for special occasions and stylish, casual everyday pieces. It’s a great achievement that directly results from Farer’s characteristic design style.

The new Farer Lissom collection

Let’s go over the details of the Farer Lissom series to get an idea of the watches. The brand set out to redefine a dress watch by creating a design that plays with the perception of formal versus casual wear. The watches all have a round stainless steel case with a 38mm diameter, a 42.8mm lug-to-lug, and a mere 7.95mm thickness. This elegantly shaped case inspired the name of this new series, in fact, as “lissom” means “slim” or “graceful.”

In terms of finishing, the face of the watch features a polished bezel and polished lugs that reflect the light well. If you switch views and look at the case sides, you will see that Farer chose a horizontally brushed finish for the flanks.

Each side also features a thin engraved keyline that accentuates the slim overall profile and the nice curvature of the lugs. As a result of this curvature, the watch hugs the wrist nicely, as we will find out later. The case is matched with a knurled crown that features a solid bronze cap with the Farer logo. It’s a signature Farer element that accentuates the brand’s creative side.

The five models in the Lissom series

The Lissom series consists of a handful of models, all named after famous botanists. These watches share a similar design, featuring sharp, radially mounted numerals, a subsidiary seconds display at 6 o’clock, and a lume-filled dauphine-style handset.

Four of the five dials feature numerals in solid Lumicast, a material made of a mix of Grade X2 Super-LumiNova and ceramic. Additionally, the fifth model features applied non-luminous numerals and a handset filled with Grade X2 Super-LumiNova.

Let’s quickly go over the different options. The first model is the Arber we had in for review, which has a raspberry-red dial with a purple small seconds display and purple minute track. For an extra vibrant accent, the small seconds hand is in a contrasting peach tone.

Farer Lissom Balfour

The Balfour is the second model, which comes with a white dial and warm gray small seconds register and minute track. This watch features applied blue numerals without lume. However, the blue hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova to ensure you can read the time in the dark.

Farer Lissom Forrest

The extensive collection of colors

Third, we have the Forrest model with a teal-green dial and a black minute track with peach-colored numerals. They match the peach-colored small seconds register with its orange hand.

Farer Lissom Lindley

Fourth, there is the Lindley model. It features a striking dark purple dial with a powder-blue sub-dial and minute track. Contrasting the sub-dial is a lovely soft pink seconds hand.

Farer Lissom Solander

The last Farer Lissom model is the monochromatic Solander. It features an all-black dial contrasted nicely by the white hands and numerals. In a nice twist, the hand for the small seconds is gray, blending in nicely while also remaining legible.

All of the dials feature intricate details that make them fun to see up close. Great examples are each dial’s lightly grained texture, slightly sunken sub-dial, and recessed outer minute track. These little details add refinement to the stylish dials.

Finally, three of the five Farer Lissom watches come fitted with suede straps that match the dial colors. The exceptions are the white-dial Balfour, which has a blue strap matching the numerals, and the teal-green-dial Forrest, which features a sand-colored suede strap. All straps, however, come with quick-release spring bars, making it easy to switch things up.

The manual-winding La Joux-Perret D100

Visible through the sapphire window of the display case back is the La Joux-Perret D100. This is an 18-jewel manual-winding caliber based on the renowned Peseux 7001. It has a 3Hz frequency and offers 50 hours of power reserve. As you can see, one of the bridges was modified and features custom Farer decoration. Thanks to the movement’s lithe 2.5mm profile, the brand kept the new Lissom series nice and slim.

As mentioned, I had a chance to check out the new Arber model up close. I love that the brand sent us one of the three colorful versions because it provides a good idea of how far the design concept stretches. My first impression was that Farer created a nice, slim case design that stands out immediately. The engraved keyline is a clever visual trick to accentuate the slim profile. But it’s not a necessary trick because, as soon as you put the watch on, you can feel how well it sits on the wrist.

That is due to the thin case, its perfect proportions, and the nicely sculpted lugs. These elements make the Farer Lissom models a perfect fit for wrists of various sizes. Despite the watches’ modest proportions, the wrist presence immediately stands out. Of course, the colorway of the Arber model makes this easy, but it’s not just that. The overall design is also very well balanced and has a nice, sympathetic presence. I love how Farer has combined colors that work so well together. On top of that, there is something for everyone in the Lissom series. Whether you like the more extravagant looks of the Arber or the comparatively traditional presence of the black Solander model, the Farer Lissom collection offers something for all tastes.

Final thoughts on the Farer Lissom collection

Overall, I was very impressed with the new Farer Lissom series, especially the Arber version that we received. The series reminds me of what Nomos is doing with its Club Campus line and last year’s colorful series of 31 Tangente 38 Datum models. However, I like the new Lissom collection slightly better than the Club Campus. In particular, I love the contrasting sub-dials and feel the design is a bit more refined without losing its colorful playfulness.

All in all, this new Farer Lissom collection is a great addition to the brand’s portfolio. Each of the models can be yours for the affordable price of €1,350 / US$1,295 / £1,150. Consequently, I’m sure this series will find many fans. If you are looking for a modern daily wearer that you can also use for special occasions, look no further. Just from wearing the Farer Lissom Arber for a few days, I can say that this new series is already one of the nicest surprises of 2025.
