Hamburg start-up, Sternglas, pays homage to its hometown. The Sternglas Hamburg is inspired by old measuring devices once used for maritime navigation.

The hometown of this watch brand is emblematic of the seafaring tradition like no other German city. Hamburg certainly has its fair share of iconic locations. The Hamburg harbor, the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, the Speicherstadt, the Alster, to name but a few. And now, Hamburg-based Sternglas has created a model to celebrate a city replete with fine design.

Vintage look

The Sternglas Hamburg has a diameter of 42mm and a case height of just 6mm. Those proportions make an ideal everyday watch for the man with an appreciation for its blend of style, practicality, and precision. Its combination of an ornately designed watch face, a high-precision, 3-hand quartz movement by RONDA, and hands and indices with Luminova technology, underpins the fresh and functional character of the Hamburg.

Sternglas-Hamburg-Watch

A delicately convex silver, satin-brushed watch face rounds out the unique look of the watch. This is the first quartz timepiece by Sternglas with a second hand and a diameter of 42mm.

Legible even in darkness

As the evenings draw longer in Hamburg, the luminous material in the hands offer improved visibility.  The indices and fine needle hands are made with high-grade Luminova technology. Consequently, they light up green in darkness.

Scratchproof sapphire glass

Also, like all Sternglas timepieces, the HAMBURG comes complete with scratchproof and double anti-reflective sapphire glass. The HAMBURG by Sternglas is currently available at the introductory price of €219, reduced from €249. Delivery scheduled for June 2020. Find more information on the Hamburg here.
