Hamilton Returns To Call Of Duty With A New Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm
Do you have October 23rd marked in your calendar? If so, that’s probably because that’s when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming out. Today, however, we see the watch that goes with the video game. Hamilton returns to Call of Duty with a new Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm in black PVD steel. It looks like the perfect watch for British Special Forces operator Captain John Price, the legendary battle-hardened leader of Task Force 141. But is it for you?
For those not into watches and video games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the defining names in the first-person shooter genre. The story began in 2007 with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In 2019, developer Infinity Ward did a soft reboot of the franchise with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which also introduced full cross-platform multiplayer to the series. Interestingly, the game eschewed the traditional Zombies mode, replacing it with the cooperative Special Ops format, which was more closely tied to the campaign. Modern Warfare II came out in 2022 and Modern Warfare III in 2023. And now it’s time for Modern Warfare 4, plus a Hamilton watch dedicated to the latest game.

This is the second time Hamilton has released a watch in collaboration with Call of Duty. Last year, the Khaki Field Automatic “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7” came out. And now it’s time for another special Khaki Field, but this time, the movement inside the case is a hand-winder instead of an automatic. The field watch (ref. H69469930, €750 / US$795 / CHF 675) on Captain John Price’s wrist is based on the popular Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm. Its case is made of stainless steel and has a sandblasted black PVD coating, giving it a utilitarian appearance. Indeed, it’s something you would expect from a watch associated with modern military equipment. The combination of the compact case and black finish keeps the design relatively restrained.
Visual codes
The dial is where the Modern Warfare 4 references become obvious. Its typography incorporates the game’s distinctive number 4, while colored accents pick up one of the visual codes used throughout the Modern Warfare universe. The surface has a pronounced graininess, which adds visual depth without making the watch feel like a miniature piece of merchandise. References to the video game continue on the back with the engraved soundwave graphic associated with Modern Warfare.
A 20mm-wide khaki-green textile strap completes the package. Naturally, it suits the watch very well. The design takes inspiration from historic British-issued General Service watches, a sensible reference given Captain Price’s military background.

You could call the bond between Captain Price and his watch “intimate.” At least that’s how I would describe the connection between man and a hand-winding movement. A watch you would have to wind yourself requires more attention and, therefore, becomes a more personal timepiece than one with an automatic movement. Anyway, Captain Price’s watch of choice is a hand-winder.
His Khaki Field Mechanical uses a hand-wound H-50 movement, a caliber developed specifically for the brand’s mechanical field watches. It offers an 80-hour power reserve and fits the uncomplicated nature of the Khaki Field Mechanical well.
Mechanical memorabilia
Hamilton has placed its watches in movies and television for decades; indeed, they’ve been in more than 500 productions. The collaboration with Call of Duty simply moves that idea into another medium. Here, the watch isn’t a mere accessory but part of the visual language of a character who has worn the same uniform of sorts for years.
The new Khaki Field Mechanical is both a military-inspired mechanical watch and a piece of Modern Warfare memorabilia. For fans of the game, the references are obvious.
