Let’s start with the gist of it: the Panerai Submersible PAM01756 is not a radically new model from the Italian brand. It is a familiar 44mm brushed stainless steel Submersible with a black sunray-brushed dial, a blue ceramic bezel insert, 500m water resistance, and a steel bracelet. The important novelties are in the subtler details — the newer P.980 automatic caliber and a bracelet with quick length adjustment.

That sounds like a small update, but on a big steel diver, small comfort features matter. The Submersible formula is already clear — a bold case, the crown-protecting bridge, a unidirectional dive bezel, a high-contrast dial, and plenty of water resistance. This one continues that recipe but brings a few appealing upgrades.

The new Panerai Submersible PAM01756

The new Panerai Submersible PAM01756 follows the familiar route. Its 44mm case is made of brushed stainless steel. It has the brand’s lever-operated crown-protecting bridge, a screw-in brushed stainless steel case back, and a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with a blue polished ceramic insert. On paper, and very much in the images, this is instantly recognizable as a modern Submersible.

Probably the biggest news is the bracelet. Panerai’s metal bracelet design takes visual inspiration from the crown-protecting bridge, which gives the links a contrast of straight and curved lines. The polished and brushed steel bracelet now includes a toolless quick-length-adjustment system. Panerai says this allows the bracelet to extend by 2mm on each side, helping compensate for changes in wrist size due to temperature or activity.

That is a smart move. Micro-adjustment on a bracelet isn’t exactly groundbreaking tech anymore, but it is the sort of thing owners actually feel. This is especially true on a 44mm, 204g steel dive watch. A fixed bracelet can be perfect at breakfast and annoying by mid-afternoon. A small adjustment window can make the difference between “impressive” and “I need to take this off.”

Panerai Submersible PAM01756 specifications

As mentioned, the Panerai Submersible PAM01756 uses a brushed stainless steel 44mm case. The unidirectional bezel combines steel with a blue polished ceramic disc and a graduated scale for the first 15 minutes. Water resistance is rated at 500 meters, and Panerai states that the watch is tested 25% beyond its guaranteed depth.

Inside ticks the automatic P.980 caliber, which Panerai introduced in April 2025. This means the watch moves away from the previous P.900 base and gains a stop-seconds function for more precise time setting. This 23-jewel, 4.2mm-thick movement measures 12½ lignes wide, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has an Incabloc anti-shock device, and offers a three-day power reserve from one barrel.

The dial keeps things clean. It is black with a sunray finish and applied luminous hour markers. A sub-seconds register sits at 9 o’clock, and there is no date window. That last detail suits the watch well and sets it apart from 95% of the Submersible collection. A Submersible does not need much decoration on the dial, and this layout keeps the focus on hours, minutes, running seconds, and elapsed dive time. The no-date difference is subtle but significant in my view.

Closing thoughts

The Panerai Submersible PAM01756 is a typical case of evolution over revolution. It is a continuation of a familiar recipe, now with three updates that make practical sense. The P.980 brings hacking seconds, which feels appropriate for a watch positioned as a proper tool. The bracelet adjustment is almost obligatory in today’s market. One thing to note: the press images don’t show it, but the adjustment does give you visible gaps, as is common with such mechanisms on butterfly clasps. Lastly, the removal of the date will surely speak to dive watch purists.

What remains is an absolute beast of a dive watch. This is a 44mm steel Submersible, not a dainty little desk diver. The 204g weight also tells you what kind of presence to expect. Still, Panerai’s audience has never exactly run away from wrist presence. For those who like the Submersible shape, these updates might just put it on the shortlist.

That makes this a sensible update in my humble opinion. At €12,800 / US$13,200 / £11,000, the Panerai Submersible PAM01756 keeps the visual identity intact and improves the parts you interact with. Sometimes, that is more useful than another color, another limited edition, or another fancy marketing story.
