Unimatic Collaborates With Huckberry To Release The Colorful Earthform Collection
Another week, another Unimatic release. It’s remarkable to see how many collaborative efforts the brand has brought out in the past couple of months. And a lot of them were very good. Granted, I am a fan of the Milan-based brand’s aesthetic, so the likelihood of me liking a piece is big. As I explained multiple times in previous articles, the Unimatic guys have created a canvas that works time and again, so it’s hard to make something that doesn’t look good. For the brand’s latest collaboration, Unimatic teamed up with Huckberry to create the Earthform Collection. In my view, these three colorful Modello Quattro models make for a great trio of summer watches.
With the summer season just around the corner, the hunt for a great summer watch is on! The Unimatic × Huckberry collaboration watches are not necessarily inspired by summer, but they are inspired by the colors of nature. As a result, the trio of watches offers plenty of summer vibes, whether intentional or not. Each of these Modello Quattro Earthform Collection models will be produced in a limited run of just 75 pieces. Therefore, if you want to get your hands on one of them, you will probably have to be quick. But they are a great new introduction after the recently released quartz Modello Quattro UT4-B.
The Unimatic × Huckberry collaboration
First, let’s quickly explain what Huckberry is because that will make you understand how the three designs came to fruition. Huckberry is an American online magazine and retailer for adventurers. I have known the store for quite some time as it carries a wide selection of great clothing, boots, and gear. I ordered a pair of Astorflex Bootflex boots from Huckberry back in 2018 that I still proudly wear on occasion.
On top of that, the store also carries clothing from Relwen, an American brand that I really love and bought a jacket from back in 2011 in Chicago. Because of its great selection of brands, I sometimes visit the online store or get lost in the Journal that Huckberry regularly updates with fantastic stories.
Together with Huckberry, the Unimatic team came up with a trio of watches inspired by American outdoor life. The canvas for these three watches is the Unimatic Modello Quattro, the brand’s modern military watch. For the first of the three versions, the orange color for the dial and strap was inspired by the orange striations of the Grand Canyon. The second timepiece features a dial and strap inspired by the soft teal lichen that grows all over Yosemite. Lastly, there is the version with the green dial and strap that draws inspiration from the sun-drenched leaves of the towering redwoods that line the West Coast of the USA.
Three different Huckberry models with a different presence
It comes as no surprise that the inspiration for the three watches comes from the outdoors. It both fits the Unimatic Modello Quattro nicely and represents the Huckberry brand fittingly. Zooming in a bit more on the different models, the orange Sandstone Modello Quattro ref. U4S-HS features a sandstone-orange gradient grené dial with white Super-LumiNova markers. The open seconds track and dial text are executed in brown. The watch comes with a sandstone-orange TPU two-piece strap and extra gray nylon NATO strap.
The second model is the Lichen Modello Quattro ref. U4S-HG. It features a lichen grené dial with Super-LumiNova C5 and a dark gray open seconds track and dial text. It comes fitted on a pale blue TPU two-piece strap and extra gray nylon NATO strap.
Rounding off the Earthform Collection is the third model, the Redwood Modello Quattro ref. U4S-HM. That one comes with a green dial, light green Super-LumiNova markers, and a cool gray open seconds track and dial text. The watch comes fitted with a meadow-green TPU two-piece strap and an extra gray nylon NATO strap, just like the other two models.
The specs of the Modello Quattro Earthform Collection
All three watches feature a 40mm stainless steel case that is 12.4mm thick and 49mm from tip to tip with a 22mm lug spacing. The Modello Quattro case is characterized by its thick, flat, fixed bezel that gives the watch its distinct presence. The texture of the sandblasted cases works nicely with the grainy dial texture and is nicely contrasted by the rubber straps. In terms of aesthetics, the three watches offer colorful variations of the design style that we know from Unimatic and the Modello Quattro specifically.
Inside the 300m-water-resistant cases, you will find the Sellita SW200-1 that powers the three timepieces. The automatic movement operates at 28,800vph and has a 38-hour power reserve. It also offers hacking seconds and manual winding. We have seen more and more Unimatic pieces come equipped with Sellita movements rather than Seiko calibers. The qualitative update in movements from the Italian brand is great.
Initial impressions of the Unimatic × Huckberry Earthform Collection
All three models will be available exclusively through the Huckberry store as of now. As mentioned, there will be 75 pieces each of all three different colors that will cost €850 excluding taxes. While I don’t think these three new models are revolutionary, they are more proof of the great versatility of the Unimatic design.
I love the concept behind the Earthform Collection too. It connects these pieces directly to the outdoor world of Huckberry. My favorites are the teal and green versions as they have a certain richness in color that I love.
If you want to buy one of these pieces, head to the Huckberry store. For more information on Unimatic, visit the official Unimatic website.
