Glashütte Original has created quite some waves with its annual editions. The craftsmanship in dial making has resulted in some stunning dials in previous years. In this video review, we’ll take an in-depth look at the annual models for 2020. The brand decided to tone it down a bit for this year but the results are equally striking.

Back at Baselworld in 2018 Glashütte Original released the first annual editions to much critical acclaim. The annual models are the perfect showcase of the incredible level of “in-house” dial making. At Baselworld 2018 the brand introduced the Sixties and Sixties Panorama Date featuring a remarkable textured green dial. In 2019 followed by the same models with a Fiery Orange dial. For 2020 the Saxon brand decided to change things up a bit.

Glashütte Original Annual Editions 2020 Review

For 2020 Glashütte Original decided to go for something less extravagant. The color for this year has been named “Glacier Blue”. In my introduction article, I praised the newfound aesthetic. The combination of the blue dial and the brown-grey nubuck calfskin strap looks at least as impressive as the previous models.

Stunning looks in real life

But nothing is better than seeing the watches in real life. That’s when you really get a good idea of the incredible dial colors. The level of craftsmanship is pretty incredible. If you are able to check out the annual models at a Glashütte Original Boutique or authorized dealer, please do.

The dials look amazing and I’m sure you will get a better idea of the impact. However, if you don’t have the opportunity to check out the watches in the metal, you can check our video review instead.

A change in line-up

As you will find out in the video, Glashütte Original did not only change the dial color. They have also swapped the Sixties Panorama Date for the Sixties Chronograph (ref. 1-39-34-04-22-04). Together with the regular Sixties model (ref. 1-39-52-14-02-04) it created a beautiful offering for 2020. The annual editions are available now and will be available until the new annual edition models for 2021 are introduced early next year.

Other Glashütte Original articles worth a read

Another Glashütte watch with a stunning dial is the PanoMaticLunar In Forest Green that Balazs wrote about here. If you like your Glashütte Original a bit different, maybe the brand’s SeaQ Diver is an option. I wrote about that one here. To get an inside view of the dial making process for the different SeaQ dive watches, you can read our long-form article here.
