With Watches and Wonders 2023 now well and truly underway, Patek Philippe drops a whopping 17 new references. The new additions showcase the extent of the house’s capabilities, from Haute Complications and Haute Joaillerie to sports watches.

There are five new references in the Patek Philippe Grand Complications category. Four new models grace the Complications collection, two of which are pilot’s watches. Then we get four new Calatrava references, three of which are in a rather sporty style. Lastly, we have one Gondolo and three Aquanaut references. In short, we have much ground to cover, so let’s get to it!

Patek Philippe Ref. 6300 Grand Complications Grandmaster Chime

Patek Philippe Grand Complications

Let’s kick things off with a big one — the Grandmaster Chime 6300GR, for the first time in white and rose gold. The Grandmaster Chime features no less than 20 complications, five of which are acoustic with three gongs and five striking modes. Naturally, you need some real estate to house and display all of that, so we get a reversible 47.7mm case. What is new here is the two-tone execution in white and rose gold. The metals pair beautifully with the opaline brown dials. Price on request.

Next, we have another Grandmaster Chime in the 6300/403G. This white gold version is set with 118 baguette-cut emeralds (7.87 carats) and 291 baguette-cut diamonds (20.54 carats). The “invisible” setting technique makes for a very smooth appearance. Both versions are powered by Patek’s caliber 300 GS AL 36-750 QIS FUS IRM. Price on request.

Patek Philippe Ref. 5316/50P-001

Other additions to the Grand Complications collection

Next up is ref. 5316/50P-001, another Grand Complication, this time in platinum. This new model combines a minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and retrograde date. The 40.2mm case houses the caliber R TO 27 PS QR. You get a view of all of the complexity through a blue metalized dégradé sapphire dial. Price on request.

Another new addition is ref. 5178G-012, a self-winding minute repeater in a 40mm × 10.53mm white gold case. The star of the show here is the dial. This white gold backdrop features an intricate hand-guilloché pattern finished with transparent blue Grand Feu enamel. The 5178G-012 is powered by the caliber R 27 PS and comes with both a blue and an orange alligator strap.

Lastly, we have a new white gold version of the 40.2mm World Time Minute Repeater 5531 in this 5531G-001. As if a minute repeater and world-time complication (caliber R 27 HU) aren’t impressive enough, the dial is an absolute masterpiece in its own right. This is a cloisonné Grand Feu enamel depiction of a Belle Époque-era steamship on Lake Geneva. Once again, price on request.

Three new Aquanaut models

The first new addition to the Aquanaut collection is the 5261R “Aquanaut Luce” annual calendar. This 39.9mm × 10.9mm rose gold Aquanaut is explicitly targeted at women, although I really do not see why. It seems perfectly suited to anyone who likes the style, regardless of gender. The annual calendar, moonphase display, and date are displayed on a blue-gray dial, which is color-matched with the rubber strap. The price for this new Aquanaut Luce is CHF 52,000.

A second new Aquanaut (also explicitly aimed at the female clientele) comes in brown with diamonds. Ref. 5268/200R features a 38.8mm × 8.5mm rose gold case set with 48 diamonds around the bezel. This automatic time-and-date model comes on a matching brown rubber strap and has a price of CHF 45,500.

Luckily, it is not a ladies-only Aquanaut party this year. The third new addition, ref. 5968R-001, is a rose gold 42.2mm × 11.9mm automatic flyback chronograph. Thanks to its caliber CH 28-520 C, we get a central seconds hand and a minute counter at 6 o’clock. Again, the brown dial matches the color of the rubber strap. This new Patek Philippe Aquanaut flyback chronograph carries a price of CHF 64,000.

Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time 5224R-001

Two rose gold additions to the Complications collection

We continue with a new Calatrava Travel Time watch in ref. 5224R-001. This brand-new model features a 42mm × 9.85mm case in rose gold, featuring a blue dial with applied gold indices. The automatic caliber 31-260 PS FUS 24H operates entirely via the crown, so there are no pushers for the 24-hour hand. Price on request.

Next up, we have an automatic flyback chronograph with an annual calendar, ref. 5905R-010 in rose gold. The 42mm × 14.2mm case features a beautiful concave bezel, and it is home to caliber CH 28-520 QA 24H. The chronograph features a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock and a white seconds hand. Apertures for the day, date, and month are cut into the sunburst blue dial. Price on request.

Patek Philippe Pilot 5924G-010

Patek Philippe Pilot 5924G-001 and 5924G-010

The Patek Philippe Pilot collection gets two new additions. Or rather, I should probably say one addition in two colors. What we have here is a combination of a pointer date, travel-time complication, and a flyback chronograph. The underlying automatic caliber CH 28-520 C FUS sits within a 42mm × 13.5mm white gold case.

Although the complications are impressive, it is probably the styling that is most noticeable here. We get the stylized applied (and cut-off) numerals paired with classical sword-style hands, typical for the Pilot line. The look is emphasized by the oversized chronograph pushers, which provide a vintage-inspired and quite sporty aesthetic.

You can have your pick of a sunburst blue or lacquered khaki-green dial, both with matching calfskin straps. You will, however, have to part ways with CHF 64,000 of your hard-earned cash.

Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007G-011

New additions to the Patek Philippe Calatrava line

The Calatrava line receives perhaps the most notable of the new introductions. Here we have a trio of 40mm × 9.17mm white gold models that I can only describe as sports watches. The clean and straightforward case houses the automatic time-and-date caliber 26-330 S C. The styling, however, is something you might not readily associate with Patek Philippe.

We get rather modern-looking black dials with a carbon fiber pattern embossed in the center. That same carbon fiber pattern repeats on the black calfskin strap. Patek provides a playful pop of color with your choice of yellow (6007G-001), red (6007G-010), or blue (6007G-011) accents. I suppose you match this to the color accents on your otherwise “naked carbon” Lamborghini. Price on request.

A final addition to the Calatrava line comes in the form of ref. 4997/200R. This rose gold 35mm × 7.4mm model houses the self-winding caliber 240. The stars of the show are the 76 diamonds set around the bezel and an embossed purple-lacquered dial. A purple calfskin strap completes a striking look. Price on request.

Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R

Gondolo 4962/200R

Lastly, Patek Philippe announced a new Gondolo Serata model. This is the only battery-powered model in today’s drop, running quartz caliber E15. This, then, is less about Haute Horlogerie and more about Haute Joaillerie.

The 28.6mm × 40.85mm × 7.36mm rose gold case is adorned with 94 brilliant-cut spessartites. They are arranged in a gradient, both in size and color. The resulting look is quite mesmerizing. They easily pull your eyes away from the brown-lacquered dial with floral motifs. Price on request.
