Introducing: The Norqain Freedom GMT Enjoy Life “Holiday” Limited Edition

Norqain delivers its latest feel-good hit of the summer with the new Freedom GMT Enjoy Life “Holiday” Limited Edition. Part of the brand’s Enjoy Life series, this travel-themed release embraces the relaxed mindset that accompanies the Northern Hemisphere’s warmest months. A colorful world map spans the dial, rendered in the familiar pastel shades seen on previous Enjoy Life editions. Look closer, and you’ll discover playful illustrations representing landmarks, wildlife, cuisine, and cultures from around the world. The fun continues through the circular date display at 6 o’clock, where a holiday-themed icon appears every seven days, including a beach parasol, flip-flops, sunglasses, and swimming costumes. As a final twist, one of the 500 pieces hides a Golden Ticket, rewarding its owner with a luxury stay for two at the Ayada Maldives resort. Let’s take a closer look.

The Holiday edition uses Norqain‘s existing Freedom GMT platform as its foundation. Inside sits the manufacture NN20/2 caliber, produced exclusively for Norqain by Kenissi. Crucially, this is a true “flyer” GMT movement. The local hour hand adjusts independently, allowing quick time-zone changes while traveling. Meanwhile, the GMT hand can remain set to home time, which is exactly how I prefer a travel watch to operate. Local time should always be the primary display, with the second time zone serving as a useful reference. The 316L stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter, 14.5mm thick, and 49.3mm lug-to-lug.

The watch may wear slightly larger than its 40mm diameter suggests, with the steel Norqain plate on the left side of the case. Positioned at nine o’clock, this engraved 316L steel insert has become a signature feature of Norqain watches. It adds a small amount of visual width to the case, though it has little impact on comfort or wrist presence in practice.

Last month, I joined Norqain, along with a group of watch journalists, enthusiasts, and content creators, for a trip across the Solent on England’s south coast. Traveling from Southampton’s Ocean Village to Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, we made the crossing aboard five RIB powerboats. Leaning into the summer theme further, an open-top bus then carried us from the island’s north coast to its southern shores. Anyone familiar with the Isle of Wight’s south side will recognize its unique microclimate, which often brings warmer weather than the mainland. It also served as a reminder that the British Isles have plenty to offer without reaching for a passport. For that, I’m grateful to Norqain, as the Isle of Wight holds a special place in my heart. Despite its old-world reputation, the island feels increasingly vibrant. With beautiful scenery and a short ferry crossing from the mainland, it’s easy to see why it continues to grow as a tourist destination.

The crossing itself proved great fun, with the RIBs reaching speeds of around 30 knots across glassy, near-motionless water. Keen to learn more, I grabbed a seat up front beside the skipper and peppered him with questions. Topics ranged from why the water appears murkier around Southampton than the Isle of Wight to recommendations for places worth visiting on the island. For those curious, the difference likely stems from Southampton’s industrial activity and centuries of commercial shipping traffic.

I soon found my attention drifting to the skipper’s wrist, where a Christopher Ward Trident-Pro peeked from beneath his sleeve. While not exactly on brand for a Norqain event, it highlighted something interesting. Younger independent brands such as Christopher Ward and Norqain are increasingly breaking beyond enthusiast circles and finding broader mainstream appeal. Competitive pricing, strong specifications, and a willingness to challenge established players have helped drive that growth.

The matte-white dial of the Freedom GMT “Holiday” immediately reminded me of soft ice cream. The pastel orange, pink, and turquoise palette only reinforces that impression. Those same colors extend to the outer 24-hour GMT ring, which is divided into three distinct sections. Along the way, playful icons remind you when to grab a morning coffee, enjoy happy hour, or finally get some well-earned rest before doing it all again the next day. The world map itself is filled with travel-inspired illustrations, from maple syrup in Canada to springboks in South Africa and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

While the dial steals the show, the Freedom GMT remains a genuinely capable travel watch. The 316L stainless steel case feels reassuringly robust and offers 100 meters of water resistance. A screw-down crown with pronounced knurling makes setting the time straightforward. Applied diamond-cut markers and faceted hands feature rhodium plating and white Super-LumiNova X1 for strong legibility. Matching them are a diamond-cut central seconds hand and a GMT hand tipped in turquoise. A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides helps keep reflections under control.

The automatic NN20/2 GMT movement is visible through the sapphire display caseback, although the prominent printed “Enjoy Life” logo obscures the view. The movement is COSC-certified and delivers a healthy 70-hour power reserve. Operating at 4Hz with 28 jewels, it remains one of the stronger GMT calibers available in this price segment.

Final thoughts, specs, and pricing

The opportunity to win a six-night stay for two in an Ocean Villa at Ayada Maldives is perhaps a little gimmicky. On one hand, it adds an extra layer of excitement to an already distinctive limited edition. On the other hand, with odds of just one in 500, you might be better off putting that money toward the trip yourself. Either way, the prize fits neatly within Norqain’s holiday-themed concept.
