Last year, Laurent Ferrier introduced the Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue. It was the brand’s perspective on the modern traveler’s watch. It featured a date window at 3 o’clock, a window for home time at 9, and a nighttime-inspired world map. If you thought the Classic was a bit too, well, classic for your taste, you’re in luck. At Watches and Wonders 2026, Laurent Ferrier introduces the Sport Traveller with the same dual-time layout and a plain slate-gray dial.

Surprisingly, the new Sport Traveller also features a new micro-rotor movement with a Swiss lever rather than a natural escapement. The Classic Traveller was made of 18K white gold, but the Sport Traveller comes in Grade 5 titanium, making the 42mm case a breeze to wear. Let’s take a closer look.

The Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller

The new Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller features the brand’s sporty cushion case. As mentioned, it has a 42mm diameter and, including the characteristic bezel and domed sapphire crystal, a 13.3mm thickness. The signature spherical screw-down crown sits between two elegant crown guards, and on the other side of the case are the two pushers to set the hour hand. To accentuate the sloping lines on the case, each surface features a different finish.

On top of the bezel, we find circular brushing, contrasting the mirror-polished sides. The tops of the lugs are vertically brushed, and mirror-polished bevels lead into the horizontally brushed sides that accentuate the Sport Traveller’s slender profile.

Of course, we know the bracelet that comes with Laurent Ferrier’s Sport watches, but it’s still a joy to see how well it matches the case style. The individual links look almost like you can squeeze them. They each resemble some kind of small cushion. The butterfly clasp opens using two push buttons and sits fairly flush between your wrist and the bracelet.

Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller dial detail

A functional and stealthy dial

In comparison to the Classic Traveller, the Sport Traveller has a less decorated and more functional dial. First of all, there’s no world map in the center. This watch features a slate-gray dial with an opaline finish and crosshairs and the Laurent Ferrier logo in white. The Sport Traveller name is there, but with its ton-sur-ton execution, it doesn’t distract you from the important information around it.

Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller sub-seconds register

The time is indicated by Laurent Ferrier’s signature Assegai hour and minute hands in 18K white gold. They work harmoniously with the teardrop indexes in the same gold alloy. Both the hands and the hour markers feature Super-LumiNova for better readability in low-light conditions. At 6 o’clock, there’s a slightly recessed and concentric-engraved sub-seconds register.

Then, we get to the sloping windows on the sides of the dial. At 3 o’clock is a smaller window for the date, and at 9 o’clock is a slightly bigger cutout for the home time. Both windows appear to originate from the center of the dial and get increasingly deeper from there. The white background and black numerals on the date and hour discs make them very easy to read.

Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller case back and movement

Same complication, different movement

As mentioned, last year’s Classic Traveller features the same dual-time complication as the new Sport Traveller. However, Laurent Ferrier didn’t simply put the same LF230.02 movement from the Classic inside the Sport and call it a day. The Sport Traveller houses a new automatic in-house caliber, the LF275.01. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour rather than 21,600, features 35 jewels instead of 44, and has a 950 platinum micro-rotor rather than an 18K yellow gold one. Additionally, while the LF230.02 contained a natural escapement, the LF275.01 swaps it for a Swiss lever escapement, probably because it’s more robust.

Pleasingly, the movement retains a convenient 72-hour power reserve and mesmerizing manual finishing. The bridges feature horizontal satin brushing, a ruthenium treatment, and mirror-polished chamfers. In this very stealthy context, the gold printing proudly stands out along with the gears and balance wheel.

With the pushers on the left side of the Sport Traveller’s case, you can either advance or reverse the hour hand to adjust it to your local time. The time in the window on the left will always refer to your home time.

Wearing the Laurent Ferrier Sport Traveller

The Sport Traveller’s lightweight Grade 5 titanium case sits nicely on the wrist. Its 13.3mm thickness on paper isn’t all that noticeable when you wear it. That’s due to the layered construction and the domed bezel and sapphire crystal. The bracelet also feels very smooth, and its links are nicely spaced for ample articulation. With the watch on the wrist, you also see how well all the various surfaces reflect light in different ways. They perfectly accentuate the Sport Traveller’s authentic shape.

I’m usually not a big fan of “stealthy” watches. However, there’s still plenty of contrast on the Sport Traveller. The white gold hands and indexes stand out nicely against the slate-gray dial and give the watch exactly the oomph it needs. It’s also nice to have dual-time functionality without it being too in-your-face. It’s there when you need it, but the beautiful hour and minute hands and markers still take up most of your attention, as they should.
