TAG Heuer unveils four new Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph models, with two in steel and two in different grades of titanium. The 40mm steel versions feature either a blue or green dial and polished center links in the bracelet, while the Grade 2 titanium one sports the Aquaracer Solargraph’s signature polar-blue accents and a sandblasted bracelet and case. Rounding off the launch is the Grade 5 titanium variant with rose-tone accents. This one mixes the titanium material’s lightness with the elegant brushed and polished finishing similar to the steel models. The new generation incorporates six rider tabs on the unidirectional bezel for enhanced grip. This bezel also uses a relief pattern with graining on the base and raised sunray-brushed numerals. On all versions, the crown includes a groove, with the Grade 2 titanium reference emphasizing the space with a polar-blue ring.

Another noticeable change is the fluted case flange at the 9 o’clock position, which balances the crown guards on the other side. It may seem like a simple design inclusion, but the flange creates symmetry in the case. This element also works well with the dodecagonal bezel and, overall, has a more angular aesthetic. All models utilize the TAG Heuer TH50‑00 Solargraph movement. Powered by natural and artificial light, two minutes of direct sun delivers a full day of power. Just 40 hours of exposure fully charges the watches for up to 10 months of autonomy, even in darkness. These watches also include matching bracelets with toolless quick-release and dual-button deployant clasps. Let’s explore the details and the journey of the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph

When TAG Heuer announced the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph in 2022, it was in a very futuristic design. The launch watch had a space-age carbon and Super-LumiNova bezel that glowed vibrant green and a blacked-out steel case with a rubber strap. In all honesty, there were too many design elements fighting for attention. This is typical of a new watch launch or, at least, the debut of a new movement technology within an existing line. Like any brand, TAG Heuer needed such a piece to stand out, have presence, and seem notably different from the automatic models. With it having a solar-powered quartz caliber, clearly, the message it conveyed was luminescent light.

Only a year later, TAG Heuer gave us a more restrained yet still adventurous titanium Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph with polar-blue accents. It was this version that cemented the line and caught the watch community’s attention, including that of Time+Tide founder Andrew McUtchen, who collaborated to create a sepia-toned Sundowner limited edition that has since sold out. Now, these latest additions evolve the case design with a more pronounced bezel and porthole-inspired “ears” on the case side. With this layout, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer appears more robust yet suited for everyday wear. It still has a purpose-driven design but includes features for all-day comfort.

Officially coming under the Aquaracer Outdoor banner, the Solargraph watches focus less on diving capabilities but still boast an impressive 200m depth rating. The case flange on the opposite side wonderfully offsets the polished steel screw-down crown at 3 o’clock. The on-wrist feel is perhaps slightly compromised, as the case specs label this as a 40mm diameter, but it’s measured diagonally. The horizontal dimension with extended case sides is potentially closer to 45mm. With this in mind, I recommend trying the watches on to get the best feel for the size. Due to the Solargraph quartz movements, though, the cases can maintain a thin 9.97mm profile, especially impressive for 200m-rated watches.

A mixture of brushed and polished surfaces dramatically emphasizes the new geometric sharpness of the case. The steel and Grade 5 titanium versions are the fanciest of the quartet, featuring polished rider tabs and center links. This latter element may be the most contentious detail, as a watch of this type typically features a more rugged all-brushed finish. But as these are more relaxed Aquaracer Outdoor variants, a little embellishment for style is acceptable. On the steel models, the deep blue and vibrant green dials are bold, with horizontal teak-deck-inspired grooves and sunray brushing. Both steel versions avoid adding too much color otherwise, using white for the text, minute markers, and date wheel to ensure the blue or green dials really sing. The indexes on all four watches are more triangular, and the date window now includes a slim metal frame. Both steel variants retail for €3,050 / US$3,100 / £2,600.

Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph in Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium

Let’s now go to what I consider the flagship of today’s unveiling. The Grade 2 titanium case is closest to pure titanium, offering a darker gray shade. In combination with the battleship tones, the sandblasted finish all over the case and bracelet absorbs more light. This model’s titanium bezel still features a relief pattern with graining and sunray-brushed numerals and a triangle marking 60 minutes. This time, however, the rider tabs are also sunray brushed with sandblasting on the outer grip. Overall, this Grade 2 titanium version has the most tool-focused aesthetic of the bunch. This one also includes the polar-blue five-minute markers, central seconds hand, and “Solargraph” text on the dial. Polar blue has become somewhat of a signature color to denote the hero Aquaracer Solargraph since its launch in 2022.

Furthering this is the polar-blue lacquer ring on the Grade 2 titanium crown. Regardless of case material, each of the four new Aquaraceres has a solid case back with a solar-symbol medallion, including the version in Grade 2 sandblasted titanium. Though the bracelet has a case-matching sandblasted finish, it retains the three rows of links and quick-release mechanism found on the steel references. That said, the 19mm lug spacing is rather awkward for aftermarket straps.

For the Grade 5 titanium model, the watch aims for a more luxurious feel with rose-gold-plated hands and indexes. With a gray sunray-brushed dial, these rose-tone details, including the date frame and five-minute markers, really pop. Topping this off is a Grade 5 titanium bezel, case, and bracelet. Notably, this bracelet features alternating brushed and polished finishes, like the steel models. I feel like a gold lacquer ring on the crown could’ve signaled the elevated reference, just as the polar-blue ring does on the Grade 2 titanium version.

Final specs, thoughts, and pricing

The Grade 2 titanium Aquaracer Professional Solargraph 200 retails for €3,600 / US$3,600 / £3,050. Going up a price band is the Grade 5 titanium model, coming in at €3,800 / US$3,850 / £3,200. If I were to choose, I’d go for the Grade 2 titanium one. Its sandblasted gray case with polar-blue accents is a really nice touch. To take it even further, I’d opt for a black rubber strap or even a matching polar-blue rubber strap for pure summer vibes. However, one element that’s slightly irksome in all four variants is the “Swiss Made” text beneath the depth rating. On previous Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraphs, this proclamation sat discreetly on either side of the 6 o’clock marker. Shifting the text upwards to the main dial seems somewhat unnecessary and slightly disproportionate with the TAG Heuer logo above.
