It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years since Oris introduced the Divers Date. The modern successor to the popular Divers Sixty-Five brought a handful of welcome upgrades, including a ceramic bezel, an updated bracelet, and a bump in water resistance. Now, the brand introduces the first new dial for the regular lineup. This matte green dial is a welcome addition, as it gives the Divers Date an almost military aesthetic. As a result, this is a good alternative to the three existing standard-production models for Oris fans who want something different.

When I first tried out the Oris Divers Date in October of 2024, it seriously impressed me. The Divers Sixty-Five had become a fan favorite in the decade before, so it seemed a tough task trying to improve a watch that so many people love. But the Oris team did a great job redesigning the watch while upgrading the specs. The most important updates were a new case construction, a redesigned and more scratch-resistant bezel, and an improved bracelet. These resulted in a series that looks and feels like a modern upgrade from the popular Divers Sixty-Five. The inaugural trio came with black, blue, or beige dials. Oris now adds a green-dial version to the family.

The new green-dial Oris Divers Date

Let’s go over the specs of this release to refresh our memory on the Divers Date details. The watch has a 39mm stainless steel case with a 12.1mm profile (including the domed sapphire crystal) and a 46mm lug-to-lug. It features a predominantly vertically brushed finish with a polished case back and flanks. Thanks to an updated case design, Oris was able to increase the water resistance from 100 meters for the Divers Sixty-Five to 200 meters for the Divers Date.

Topping the case is a unidirectional bezel holding a black ceramic insert with a 60-minute scale. Unlike the Divers Sixty-Five, which has a full set of hashmarks, the Divers Date bezel only has hashmarks for the first 15 minutes. The matte green dial features applied hour markers filled with white Super-LumiNova. Located at 6 o’clock, you will find a date window. The date disc is white with numerals printed in black. Because of the chosen colors, the date window visually aligns perfectly with the markers. The three hands hovering over the dial are also filled with white lume that glows blue, keeping the time legible in the dark.

The Oris 733

Visible through the case back’s sapphire display is the Oris 733 caliber. This 26-jewel automatic movement is based on the Sellita SW200-1, runs at 28,800 vph, and offers a 41-hour power reserve. Additionally, the caliber features manual winding, hacking seconds, and Oris’s signature red rotor. As Daan explained in his review, we will likely see the Divers Date with the brand’s proprietary caliber 400, but the Sellita-based caliber 733 keeps the price affordable while offering the practicality of easy service.

Bracelet and strap options

Finishing the watch is the slim, riveted bracelet, which also received updates compared to the Divers Sixty-Five’s. It has polished, real rivets that contrast nicely with the other brushed links, and it also includes removable quick-release spring bars. Alongside that, the watch comes with a black rubber strap with a branded stainless steel buckle. This gives the Divers Date a much different aesthetic. I always prefer the bracelet, but it’s nice that you can change up the look of this new green-dial Divers Date to make it more sporty.

Final thoughts on the new green-dial Oris Divers Date

Overall, I really like this new dial color for the Oris Divers Date. It reminds me somewhat of the limited-edition Divers Sixty-Five that Oris created with Hodinkee in 2021. But thanks to the full set of upgrades, this is a rather different, modern variation of that watch. This new dial will surely land well with Oris fans, offering them an extra color that fits the lineup perfectly. My favorite of the inaugural Oris Divers Date trio was the blue-dial version. But with the addition of this green dial, I have just found a close runner-up.

The new green-dial Oris Divers Date is available now and retails for €2,450 / US$2,800 / £2,100. As mentioned, this is a welcome addition to the lineup of Oris’s retro divers. It also makes me curious to see whether the brand will add more dial variations. If it does, let’s hope we won’t have to wait another two years for that to happen. The Divers Date simply looks too good, and I can see it working with a wide range of dial colors. For now, though, this green-dial Divers Date is the perfect next step for this series.
