The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 — A New Artelier Paying Tribute To Oris’s Home
On June 1st of every year since 2020, Oris has introduced a homage to Hölstein, the Swiss village that the brand calls home. According to Oris CEO Rolf Studer, it’s also a “thank you” from Oris to the Oris community. For this year’s edition, Oris used its new Artelier model, introduced at Watches and Wonders 2026, as a canvas. The result is this Bauhaus-style Artelier model with a self-winding 401 movement.
Oris Hölstein Edition 2026
Young Oris designer Lena Huwiler (24) conceived the idea for the new Hölstein Edition 2026. She also oversaw the redesign of the Artelier collection, which was well received at Watches and Wonders 2026.
A lot of praise from the watch community came this year for the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Bullseye, but the revamped Artelier collection also received credit.
What makes the Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 so special?
This new Hölstein Edition 2026 is limited to 250 pieces and could be considered a bit of “business in the front, party in the back,” with a colorful Oris Bear on the rear. Although that doesn’t apply entirely, “business” could imply that the dial is a bit dull. Even though the dial is light gray and the only colorful element is the small red seconds hand on the mirror-finished sub-dial, the organic shape and applied faceted hour markers bring it to life. Add a domed sapphire crystal, and it’s a playful ensemble.
Conversation starter
According to Studer, this time-only Hölstein edition will be a talking piece among the Oris community. The Oris Bear on the case back and the mirrored red small seconds are elements that will spark conversation among watch fans.
Oris’s self-winding movement
And then, of course, there’s the self-winding Oris caliber 401. This proprietary movement offers a 120-hour power reserve and performs within chronometer standards, averaging -3 to +5 seconds per day. Additionally, Oris offers a 10-year warranty and claims the service interval is also 10 years. This excludes checks for water resistance, which owners should have performed at least once every five years. This new Oris has a water resistance of 30 meters.
The dimensions of the new Hölstein Edition 2026
Oris’s Hölstein Edition 2026 has a 39.5mm case with a 45.5mm lug-to-lug and an 11.1mm profile. These dimensions make it suitable for most wrists, and although a 39.5mm diameter is still considered large for a dressier watch, the lug-to-lug distance is very modest.
The Oris Bear is (on the) back
Flipping the watch over, you’ll find a screw-in case back with a special insert laser-etched with Oris Bear graphics and text, all with a rainbow effect. The case back’s steel bezel is engraved with the watch’s unique number and other information, including the watch’s serial and reference numbers.
First impressions
Oris has presented a fresh, joyful interpretation of the new Artelier to pay homage to its hometown. Additionally, the brand fitted the Hölstein Edition 2026 with its proprietary caliber 401 instead of a Sellita-based movement. Although it adds a significant markup to the price, for a special version like this, it’s a good fit because it offers something extra. Oris collectors will surely appreciate it. With this seventh Oris Hölstein Edition, the brand stepped away from sports and pilot’s watches and put a dress watch in the spotlight. Given the increasing demand among watch enthusiasts for dressier pieces, it’s a perfect time to do so.
Price and availability
The Oris Hölstein Edition 2026 will be delivered with a gray suede strap with quick-release pins and a butterfly clasp. Each watch will be uniquely numbered (x/250) and will come in a special wooden Oris box. The retail price of this watch is €3,800 / CHF 3,800, and it will be available starting in June through Oris boutiques and online. It is praiseworthy that Oris keeps the price in euros equal to the amount in Swiss francs. This strategy could help some other brands, too.
