Audemars Piguet Introduces Three Supersonnerie Watches And Two Stone-Dial Code 11.59 Models
Audemars Piguet expands its Royal Oak and Code 11.59 collections with five new references that explore two very different aspects of the manufacture’s watchmaking. Three new Minute Repeater Supersonnerie models showcase its work in acoustic engineering, while two 38mm Code 11.59 Selfwinding watches introduce natural stone dials in gold obsidian and black onyx. The releases range from technically complex chiming watches to more restrained time-only models, with each offering a different interpretation of the collections’ long-standing designs.
The three minute repeaters share the same hand-wound caliber 2953 and Supersonnerie technology. Two arrive in the 42mm Royal Oak line, including the first pink gold version of this execution, while the third is a new iteration of the 41mm Code 11.59 Minute Repeater Supersonnerie. The two stone-dial watches, meanwhile, offer a more compact take on the Code 11.59, with cases in yellow or pink gold.
Three new Minute Repeater Supersonnerie watches
Audemars Piguet introduced its Supersonnerie technology in 2016 with the Royal Oak Concept RD#1. The result of eight years of development, the project brought together watchmakers, musicians, and researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). The objective was to improve the acoustic performance of a wristwatch minute repeater, a complication that presents particular challenges when producing a clear chime from a mechanism housed inside a relatively small case.
The patented construction uses gongs mounted on a dedicated soundboard. Combined with an innovative case construction and a newly developed regulator, this approach improves the striking mechanism’s acoustic performance. The latest watches use caliber 2953, a manually wound 30 × 6mm movement. It comprises 362 components and 32 jewels, operates at 3 Hz, and offers a minimum guaranteed power reserve of 72 hours. In addition to the minute repeater, the movement drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds.
In titanium and 18K gold
The first of the new Royal Oak references, 26591TI.OO.1252TI.08, features a 42mm titanium case and an integrated bracelet in the same material. Its green dial has a satin-finished sunburst motif and a smoked effect that darkens towards the edge. A matching green small-seconds counter maintains the color scheme, while 18K white gold Royal Oak hands and silver-toned 18K pink gold hour markers provide contrast. The indexes and central hands are filled with luminescent material.
As with other Royal Oak models, the case combines satin-brushed and polished surfaces. These alternating finishes create depth and detail across the watch’s angular architecture. The titanium reference measures 14 mm thick and is water-resistant to 20 meters.
The second Royal Oak Minute Repeater Supersonnerie, reference 26591OR.OO.1252OR.01, offers a warmer interpretation. For the first time, Audemars Piguet presents this model in 18K pink gold, pairing the metal with a lovely brown Grande Tapisserie dial. The small-seconds counter follows the dial’s color, while the hands and lume-filled hour markers are also pink gold. A matching integrated bracelet completes the design. This watch shares the exact case dimensions and water resistance of its titanium counterpart.
The third watch brings Supersonnerie technology to the Code 11.59 collection. This 41mm reference 26395BC.OO.D009CR.01 is a new iteration of 2023’s Minute Repeater Supersonnerie. Its 18K white gold case features a fully polished middle, while the smoked sapphire dial reveals AP’s caliber 2953 beneath. The minute track and the rim around the small-seconds counter use galvanic growth to create additional texture and depth.
White gold baton hands and hour markers complete the display. The watch comes on a gray alligator strap with an 18K white gold folding clasp. With a 13.6mm profile, it is slightly slimmer than the two Royal Oak references, though it shares their 20m water resistance. All three watches have a price on request.
Two Code 11.59 watches with natural stone dials
Alongside the minute repeaters, Audemars Piguet introduces two 38mm Code 11.59 Selfwinding models with natural stone dials. One uses gold obsidian, while the other features black onyx. Each material brings a different surface and character to the collection, with the finishing process intended to reveal the stone’s particular color, texture, and depth.
The yellow gold reference 77410BA.OO.A604CR.01 features a natural obsidian dial with a sunburst motif. Gold obsidian contains mineral inclusions that produce reflective details within its dark surface. The finish brings these variations into view, creating subtle changes as light moves across the dial. Yellow gold hands filled with luminescent material and gold-toned hour markers complement the case. A shimmering brown inner bezel and black alligator strap add further contrast.
The second model, reference 77410OR.OO.A001CR.01, combines an 18K pink gold case with a mirror-polished black onyx dial. The stone’s deep black surface provides a backdrop for baguette-cut diamond indexes, totaling 0.37 carats. Pink gold hands filled with luminescent material tie the dial to the case, while a black inner bezel and a shiny black alligator strap maintain the darker aesthetic.
Both watches measure 38 mm across and 9.6 mm thick. They feature double-curved, glare-proofed sapphire crystals on the front and back and offer water resistance to 30 meters. The yellow gold version retails for CHF 45,500, while the pink gold one costs CHF 54,100.
Inside, the automatic caliber 5909 provides hours, minutes, and a central seconds hand. This 26.2 × 3.9mm movement consists of 174 components, including 29 jewels, and runs at 4 Hz. Its minimum guaranteed power reserve is 60 hours.
Five new references across two collections
These five additions highlight two notably different areas of Audemars Piguet’s watchmaking. The Supersonnerie references emphasize the engineering behind a complex chiming complication, presenting the same movement across two dissimilar collection designs and three material executions. The two smaller Code 11.59 models, meanwhile, use natural stone to create distinct dial designs within a time-only format. Together, the releases expand the Royal Oak and Code 11.59 collections through different approaches to materials, finishing, and mechanical watchmaking.
