Introducing: The New Panerai Luminor Collection
Last year, Panerai refreshed its Luminor Marina collection and introduced slimmer cases with increased water resistance ratings. This year, the brand is playing directly to my wheelhouse by updating its Luminor collection. For reference, these watches include manual-winding movements, which I love to see and use. We were fortunate to have these pieces in our headquarters and have some fantastic photos!
The Luminor is one of my favorite Panerai collections, so any time the brand refreshes the lineup, I sit up and take notice. Yes, they make me pine for a larger wrist, but it’s a rare case in which I can appreciate the watches from a distance and feel envious of those who can wear them comfortably. For this year’s novelties, Panerai has chosen a case design from the 1960s. An example reference of this model was the 6152/1 and, more recently, the PAM00372 with its acrylic crystal. Well, let’s start the admiration with some live photos, descriptions, and pricing.
The Luminor PAM01731 — Tobacco
The first of several new Luminor references is the PAM01731, a 44mm steel watch with a matte tobacco-brown sandwich dial. It features beige Super-LumiNova, numerals at 12, 3, and 6 o’clock, and a small seconds display at 9. Happily, this watch is a Panerai in its most basic element, which means there’s no date window. Unlike the aforementioned PAM00372, this new Luminor uses a domed sapphire crystal. It also comes fitted with a dark brown calfskin strap and a trapezoidal pin buckle. An included brown rubber strap helps take advantage of the 300m depth rating.
Inside, the PAM01731 is equipped with the brand’s P.6000 manual-winding caliber, on display via a screw-in case back with a huge sapphire lens. This 19-jewel movement ticks at 21,600 vibrations per hour and packs a 72-hour power reserve. Other niceties are a polished, highly sculpted case with drilled lugs that should conform nicely to the wrist. This watch has a retail price of €8,900 and is available now.
The PAM01732 Destro
Panerai fans would loudly proclaim their concerns if the brand failed to bring a watch built for the right wrist, or a Destro model, to the party. The Luminor PAM01732 is a 44mm steel beauty in the same form as its tobacco sibling, but it has the signature crown guard on the opposite side of the case. In true Panerai form, the watch has a completely different dial shade because why not shake it up a bit? The PAM01732 has a matte blue dial that might be one of the nicer shades I’ve seen.
Once again, the watch uses the P.6000 manual-winding movement. It also comes with a light brown calfskin strap and a stainless steel pin buckle. In this case, the included second strap is blue rubber. The watch costs the same, at €8,900, and it’s available immediately.
The Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733
The next piece to debut at this year’s Watches and Wonders is the Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733. This 44mm steel watch has a Brunito case, a detail worth some explanation. Panerai explains that black PVD is uniformly applied to the surface of the case. Then, each case is manually brushed to create a time-worn look similar to an old instrument. The process also ensures that each piece is unique. Once again, the brand employs a sandwich dial, but instead of a matte finish, this one bears circular brushing and an anthracite tone.
Inside, the PAM01733 uses the P.5000 manual-winding movement. Twin barrels help bring the power reserve to 192 hours, and the 3Hz (21,600vph) frequency remains. A light brown calfskin strap works perfectly with the case finishing and dial. However, the package includes a screwdriver and a black rubber strap to encourage putting the 300m water resistance to good use. The enhanced movement and hand-finished case bring the price to €11,000. The watch will become available in June 2026.
The Luminor PAM01735
Finally, for those who enjoy a larger form, the Luminor PAM01735 may be the answer. This watch mimics the original vintage piece with its 47mm diameter and polished stainless steel case. Here, though, the aging is enhanced with a matte ivory sandwich dial and beige Super-LumiNova details. Perhaps the larger sapphire crystals on either side of the watch complicate the water resistance formula, as this piece has a 100m depth rating. Still, the watch comes on a dark brown calfskin strap with a black rubber strap also included.
For the PAM01735, the watch uses the P.3000, a manual-winding caliber with a 72-hour power reserve and a ticking speed of 21,600 vibrations per hour. It also boasts a quick-time-change function whereby the wearer can adjust the hour hand forward or backward in one-hour jumps via the crown. Of all the calibers in today’s release, this is probably the prettiest movement due to its increased number of bridges. This watch will also be available in June 2026 for €12,100.
Lovely pieces with great dials
In my opinion, Panerai has done a great job with the latest Luminor releases. As mentioned, I’m a big fan of manual-winding watches, and that sentiment certainly applies to these. From an aesthetic standpoint, I like the matte finishes and warm luminous details of the sandwich dials. Overall, these feel like strong pieces that should be welcomed by fans of the brand and potential newcomers. For more information on the new Luminor collection, visit the official Panerai website.
