Today, Oris introduces a new variation on the Aquis collection. The Oris Aquis Small Second with date feature. Let us stress that the ‘small’ in the model name has to do with the seconds and absolutely not with the size of the watch. A whopping 45.5mm in diameter for this Oris Aquis Small Second Date.
The Oris Aquis Small Second has the same design as the Aquis that was introduced earlier this year. Gerard did an interesting write-up on the new Aquis during his trip to Florida with Oris a few weeks ago, you can read it here.
In short, the lugs and bracelet are a bit thinner than on the previous Aquis versions and the crown guards are a bit more tapered. These changes give the new Aquis models a more sophisticated look. On the dial, you will find that the hands and indexes are a bit bolder than before and the model name ‘Aquis’ has been printed on the dial.
For now, Oris introduces two variations of the Aquis Small Seconds Date. Besides the small seconds, specifications remained similar to the other Aquis models (WR of 500 metres). The new Aquis Small Seconds Date has an Oris calibre 743 movement, which corresponds to the Sellita SW220-1.
The two variations Oris used for this new introduction are a blue dial version and a black dial version. The blue dial version comes on a blue or black rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The black dial version has a black rubber strap and orange Super-LumiNova applied indexes and hands. Oris chose orange, because this is the color that remains most visible under water. Both watches come with a black ceramic bezel inlay.
Oris’ stainless steel bracelet has their in-house developed safety anchor and quick-adjust, sliding-sledge folding clasp. This bracelet can therefor be adjusted without taking the watch off the wrist.
The blue dial version has reference No. 01 743 7733 4135 RS and has a CHF2200.- price tag for the watch with rubber strap and CHF2400.- for the watch on stainless steel.
The black dialed Oris Aquis Small Second Date has reference No. 01 743 7733 4159 RS and comes with the same pricing strategy.
